I prefer PC. Zam is highly reliant on dodging to be useful in machamp and gengar raids and it is so much easier to dodge with PC. The gain from a successful dodge is greater than the dps loss of PC Vs C.

Agree with above. Not to mention Psycho Cut gains energy quicker than Confusion. The goal is to try and get off three Future Sights if trying to solo Machamp.

It's possible. I haven't solo'ed many Machamps but have managed to do it with Espeon and Zam.

If you want to dodge and use more charge moves, then Psycho Cut.

Confusion. If you run simulations, 'Zam with confusion almost always does more DPS than 'Zam with psycho cut, and DPS is what you need for tier 3 raids. Psycho cut is easier to use and more nimble, but the reality is that it underperforms compared to confusion (despite the fact that it "feels" better). Also, you shouldn't do very much dodging when soloing tier 3 raids, so psycho cut's benefits are minimized.

Most ppl need to dodge when soloing machamp and gengar. In these raids survivability is usually a greater issue than time (unless you use lugia or your team is mostly dragons).

No more than once per attacker, and only if it allows you to launch an extra one-bar charge move. Even then, the extra FS (for example) barely makes up the difference between confusion and PC. Most of the time, when level 30+ players with adequate lineups fail against t3 bosses, it's because they dodge too much.

If PvP is released, or for fast, potion-efficient gym clearing, PC will be better. Against t3 raid bosses, though, confusion is almost always better. The one exception I can think of is using an Alakazam with shadow ball against an Alakazam (or Mewtwo) raid boss. Then, PC might be the better quick move.
