Follow up to my coin question
The majority of the opinions expressed debated the merits and follies of using lucky eggs. So, let's have it. What are your thoughts on lucky eggs? Does it depend on your level? Does the double xp matter? Have you used them? Would you use then differently if you had to do it over again?
For me, I would periodically buy them and mass evolve up to level 30. Then I stopped until about 33. Then I did again during the go-fest rewards. Then I didn't. Now I'm at level 36.5 and thinking about buying some more lucky eggs to push to 38 during the event and then relax again.

I've been preparing for this event for a couple of months now. Got about 1200 evolutions ready, 600 already available. Next to that I have anticipated on XP during this week, therefore I've off from study and don't have any other obligations until the 1st of december.
I will travel to a lured pokestop dense area every day and play for at least 6 hours. I should be able to reach level 40 with this strategy pretty easily.
How many pokemon do you have powered up as high as you can take them for your level? Do you have enough stardust and the desire to take them even higher?
If the answer is no, then you don't need to rush to level up.
Levels 20 and 30 are the two main benchmarks for getting eggs and wild pokemon as high as possible. I stopped caring after about level 35 because there were so few pokemon that I really cared to power up that high.
Yes you are right. Just get to Lvl 30 asap and after that it doesn't matter that much anymore. Nevertheless I still use lucky eggs for evolutions. I want to reach Lvl 40 (hopefully after this event). I don't deny that it's partly about prestige but also to somehow "finish" the game.
I didn't use them false or 24/7. Only for evolutions and on some rare occasions like fire event or 3 Legendary raids next to each other. I buyed most of them when they were 50% off. Would do it the same way again minus sometimes being impatent in the beginning (per example doing a session but only having 50 Pokémon to evolve).
So I'm pretty happy how good it worked out. Stardust is another story...
XP is pointless without the stardust.
Lvl20 and Lvl30 are key milestones that we all want (almost need) to achieve...for this we have Lucky Eggs.
I have used Eggs during BonusXP time more to get back some mon storage as much as anything else - and if I am going to do it then bonus XP time seems the most appropriate.
After lvl20 and lvl30, levels and XP don't really mean much without the resources to support it.
If you are on here, listening, learning, throwing ideas against the wall...while powering your best things up...you will probably be a legit 39-40 player when you need to be. Those that already took advantage of the dozens of previous bonus events (& bubble strat), they might have the level number already, but many may not have so much else. Also, those that haven't played the whole time...they will catch up in terms of level thru raiding if you don't cash in some of your thousands of candy. I've played everyday, I'd like to be nominally ahead of somebody that started at gym rework.
I am far enough in front in terms of XP that they have a problem trying to catch me ;-)
...and because I haven't gained empty XP they have a LONG LONG way to go to match my lineup.
Empty XP is just that. Even if they catch my level, if they don't have the resources to back it up then it won't do them any good.
I just hit level 38 and so far only purchased 6 lucky eggs during the summer Xp event. I did this preciously as I saw no purpose to level up fast without the stardust to take advantage of higher levels. Now with the possibility that we might be able to max out to 40 soon, I just purchased more lucky eggs. The 3 million xp Hill without a little help with lucky eggs will be a long climb.
It really all depends on your personal goals in the game. If you don't particularly care about getting to level 40 then no they are useless because most damage break points hot around level 35. I personally didn't really use lucky eggs until I reached around level 33 or 34 because before that I felt it was more useful to purchase other items such as incubators, now there isn't anything that I particularly care about that comes from eggs (besides 10ks) so I don't but incubators and am close to 40 so I use lucky eggs. Just all kind of depends what you want out of the game.
For the first year of playing (started 12 July) I was f2p so only used reward lucky eggs and had no clue about mass evolving. So only started using a stockpile of lucky eggs from last sale box event recently. I'm 1.5mil into level 37. So it's a novelty to get 70k xp in half an hour. I've done the grind and still do so I feel I deserve it.
