New Gym Idea: Champion System
4 "Past" Champion Slots are added to every gym
Rules:
1) Champions can be of any team, and can be challenged by any team (so you can challenge a champion of your own team)
2) Champions can be any pokemon including legendary and do not decay.
3) A trainer may have 1 "Normal" pokemon in Gym and 1 Champion pokemon in gym.
4) Champion battles are 1-1 battles AND winning pokemon gets that spot. ((Trainers do not get a choice of what to put in, whatever they won with automatically goes in))
5) Trainers can only access the "Champion Battle System" in a Gym controlled by thier team that is strong enough to "Stand" (enough total CP to be standing). Another combat button "Challenge a champion" appears ONLY when your team is in full control
6) Upon losing Champions bring back random prizes based upon how long they held out. Prizes could be anything from coins, to that pokemons candy, to stardust, to berries, to candy, to whatever.

Idea is based on trying to create a single challenging fight. Since the pokemon that wins stays, you can't use a Mew2 and drop in a pidgey.
A Bonus to the idea is to play to the collector nature of pokemon. A major factor of collecting is "Showing off" your collection. Decay prevents showing off, but a champion system would allow it
A minor bonus as well would be to spice up the normal gym system. Since the Gym must be "Standing strong" to access the champion system it will discourage putting pidgeys in normal gyms. It will also make some fun strategy to knock down an opponents standing gym even if you don't have time to take it fully over. And you will need to coordinate a bit, to get other trainers from your team to drop in to make it stand.
While this might favor trainers with higher level pokemon, that should be okay because of the nature of SE. Even a player in their 20s should be able to beat a level 39.5(40) champion using a proper counter and dodging.

I thought of Blissey, but there are 4 slots in my idea, and the level 21 would pick which he/she challenged. Just pick a non-blissey
((Id have same 1 limit for 4 champion slots, seperate from normal 6 slots)
I like the Gold Badge idea but then you'd rarely get kicked out and rewarded because their would be so few people have those. If you did that you'd have to change the reward mechanic from return to something clicked each day like the old system
I really wish back the 10 spot system. But:
- you only need to beat them once / or twice
- no training, spots for free
- keep the only one of each Pokémon rule
- include Legendaries
- no motivation / but Pokemon returns after 7days
Today it's just boring. Either you kick out the almost dead pokémon in the morning/ at night or you have 3 annoying rounds who are not challenging at all.
