What is the strangest / Interesting situation have you guys been in while playing pogo?
For example, I was playing pogo in the break room with my co-worker. There is a Starbuck gym below as a storefront for our building office and we were battling the gym. While battling, she started making Pokémon sound effects which was “pika pika chuuuu” and I foolishly followed along. Our operation manager was around the corner making copies at the printing/ supplies station and overheard our shenanigans. He comes into the break room and gives us a wtf face. We were a deer caught in the headlight. She had leftover corn on her cheeks and me choking due to the surprise and drinking a Coke beforehand.
How about you guys? Care to share?

Nothing really too strange but... I have NEVER participated at any T3-T5 raids where people gather, but for some reason they always jump in when there's a T1-T2. First time I went ahead and of course I've lost damage bonus since I was lower level. I didn't even get to talk to the woman with the kid, she jumped into the Quilava raid. But the second time, I just exited the Muk raid when 3 other people (not sure if spoofers) jumped in, had to go on private just so I could get the full bonus of those. But if there's a Legendary around, everyone from my group is nowhere to be seen. I hope Niantic adds that chat or whatever so players can announce they're at a raid, I'm not installing "WhatsApp" just for this, and even with that they can barely gather.
A couple weeks ago, I stopped on my bike to catch a few pokemon next to a church, when some cops walked out and started talking to me. Apparently that church had been broken into earlier that day, so when they saw me standing on the street nearby, they started treating me like a suspect and demanded my name and address so they could run my info, then asked what I was doing there.
That was actually the third time I've been confronted by police while playing this game in the last six months. Before that, it was just random people acting like I must be up to something horrible because I was existing near them.
Another time, I got bitten by a dog that came running down someone's driveway I walked past. Ripped a hole in my pants and gave me a pretty good bruise. That's the only one that's actually bitten me, but avoiding unrestrained dogs has been a frequent issue when playing this game. I've seen plenty of skunks and other wildlife too while playing, but they're not a problem anything like people's dogs.
Those stories are more annoying than strange, but the best I've got.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had strange encounters with the law.
I was once parked on the side of a quiet dirt road fighting the gym in the nearby park when a cop pulled up and asked what I was doing. He was State patrol, really had no business there, claimed I was blocking the road (I wasn't). Just making a phone call, I lied. Well, you can't park here, he said.
So I left, of course (he never checked my license, tag or even asked my name). Later I wondered if he was the Instinct "JoeTheMan" I had just kicked out of the gym...
Another time a small town sheriff's deputy stopped me, asked why I was driving around running stop signs (just sloppy stopping, didn't run them). I was trying to get to a gym, but said I was just driving around. He let me go, didn't really have a case. But you better believe I'm a model driver when it comes to stop signs now in that town!
At work i had to take a dump. So I opened the game and it started to vibrate. After a minute or so a new pokémon apeard and not only my phone vibrated but also the one in the toilet cabin next to me. The guy in there shouted: "Catch em all, pokémon!". We died laughing and it was the beginning of a new friendship
My buddy and I tried to do a raid at a gym in a nursing home parking. Right before we started one of the residents walked up to his car and tried to get in. She was panicky and started walking from door to door, repeating something that sounded like gibberish. Oooba! Oooba! Oooba!
Luckily, his doors were locked. Finally, we looked at each other and in an instant figured out was going on. We think she was trying to escape and called an Uber as her getaway vehicle.
We ditched the raid and left in a hurry with her yelling at us the whole way out.
Afew months ago, we went to a raid, never been to this gym before, was called the 'cross of sacrifice'. Turns out it was in the middle of a pretty creepy cemetery, loads turned up for the raid & without anyone saying anything we formed a circle, never happened before or since, lol. So there we all were, phones in hand, in a circle, before the cross of sacrifice, very strange especially the quiet part when the boss is down & everyone concentrating on the catch. The places you end up playing this game......
I was at the local park doing a quick raid when I heard a dog fight start. Some woman had lost control of her dog's leash and it attacked another woman's dog who was walking nearby. I rushed over to find that it wasn't overly serious, so I told the ladies to make sure to not get between them and just to separate them with their leashes from behind. I walked away, and the next thing I heard was some intense arguing. Long story short, one woman tried to walk away from the argument, and the other chased her to her car demanding payments for a vet visit (which her dog did not need, btw). The woman being chased turned and slapped the other woman, to which the slapped woman responded by kicking the other woman in the stomach. Police were called, charges were filed, tears were shed. Still waiting to see if I'll be called as a witness.
