Tier 5 Raids no matter the number of players playing.

I’ll take some golden berries. Golden berries are almost as good as Rare candies and Charged TMs. Fast TMs are a little bit easier to obtain , but as far as gym control; Mewtwo Raids (haven’t gotten an invite yet myself ) , I can definitely add some more Golden Rasberries to my inventory. It’s all preference based on your playstyle.

I consider myself a counter picker. Don’t really Raid as much. Free player but I have more defensive maxed out Pokemon than offensive (Raid meta). Plus I’m one of the minority still getting 2 items per Pokestop spin so it takes longer for me to fill up my bagspace.

Gold gyms are the only thing helping with the 2 items per stop so Golden Rasberries are definitely useful for my playstyle so I can get more Gold gym Badges.

Just remember, it’s all RGN and is really based on your playstyle on how the rewards you get benefit you overall.

My reward today, group of 7 against Entei, all raiders 35+; my color controlled; my color won damage: 12 rare candy; 1 fast TM; 1 charged TM; 5 super potions. Get there early and flip the color (or join your area's now dominant team 15 months ago)

I am trying to figure out what have I done wrong in raid battles. Out of 90+ T5 raids, never received more than six candies and at least 25% of time, getting none.

It is just luck. The only thing you have some control over is how many balls you receive, and the more balls you receive the more total reward "packet" you get. Still, that could mean 30 Super Potions.

T5 regardless

There is a good article on TSR about raid rewards. They come in "bundles" based on what tier the raid is and how many balls you receive. I have noticed it is accurate. Sorry I don't have the link.

it does predate the potion dilution though.

I seem to get big windfalls on t5s followed by nothing for a few raids
and a steady stream from solo T3.
they both probably work out about the same in the long run. But the T5s give the best chance at charged tms (which a bad run on a change can blow 10 of in a few minutes)

Just did a T5 moments ago, still no candies but tons of revives and potions!

Last week I got boat loads of charge TM's and RC (only did Ttar and Entei), this week I've gotten garbage (mostly just Ttar and Alakazam).

Typically I get more than 10 balls/bundles.

Relying on Legendary raids is mostly foolish, unless your area has such a high population density to your team ratio that every raid you do grants you the damage bonus and can rely on having enough people to complete the raid. Otherwise, power up teams that allow you to solo tier 3 raids, do whichever you can rely on completing daily, and don't waste your premium passes unless you know your raid group can win.

Unfortunately, the reward bundles changed (potions were added) since the silphroad guys finished their research, but afaik the rare candy bundles did not change, only that the chance to obtain candy bundles dropped from 30%.

https://thesilphroad.com/science/raid-rewards-secret-multipliers

level 3 and 4 raids contain only 2 rare candies/bundle while tier 5 raids contain 3 rare candies.

I assume that the chances to get a candy bundle are now approximately 25% (instead of 30%) independent of the raid level

Soloing T3s: you will get 12-14 balls which results in 6 bundles -> 25% * 6 bundles * 2 candy = expected value 3 candy

3-4 T4 Raids: let's assume you get 9-10 balls which results once again in 6 bundles and an EV of 3 candy

T5 Raids: With a little luck you'll get 8-9 balls and even receive 7 bundles on average, resulting in
25% * 7 bundles * 3 candy = EV of 5 candy
but even if you only get 6 balls and 5 bundles, you still get 25% * 5 bundles * 3 candy = 3.75 candy

Long story short answer 1 was correct: always do T5 Raids

Tks.

Does it mean that doing T1/T2 will never get you any candies? If that's the case, T1 and T2 raids are total waste of time/pass.

T1: at most 2 bundles (7+ balls)
T2: at most 4 bundles (11+ balls)
and only 1 candy/ candy bundle

If you are VERY lucky, you could get up to 4 charge TMs by doing a T2 raid, and catch a perfect Exeggutor in the process. Of course this is not very likely, but I wouldn't go so far and call T2 raids a waste of time. I wouldn't do T1s though

Legendary Raids. Hands down best way to obtain them.

Consistent? Not at all. Not in the least. But when you get Rare Candies from Legendary raids, you're more likely to get a LOT of them (like 6+). T4 raids you might get 3-5 if you get any. T3 and below you're looking at 2 Rare Candies max. (with the exception being about as common as finding a Larvitar in the wild. I've gotten 3 Rare Candies from Magikarp raids in the past, for example - which was amusingly ironic because this was when I was spinning 100 pokestops and getting 3 Revives and 3 Max Revives total, so I was doing any raid I could find just to try to get more Revives. Instead... Rare Candies. ARGH!)

So Legendary Raids is where to get the most Rare Candies. You get them at essentially the same rate as other Raids, but when you do get them you get more.

I do about equal T3 and T5. I get more TMs out of the T3s than I do the T5s. 3tms to 1tm in the last two weeks. Rare candy, I definitely get more out of T5s, but I have gotten 6 a couple of times out of T3's. I get stiffed in both at least 25% of the time.

My last 3 raids, a charged TM each of them plus an extra fast TM in one of them. Some rare candy in all 3--one raid a day for a week I think might net a 15-21 rare candy in an average week. Not a huge amount but you can make it add up by using them wisely
