Power up Espeon, Alakazam or Machamp

Hi there:

With Gen 3 around the corner and limited resources I have yet to have a powerful Alakazam (just got confusion/future sight and a 93% IV 12 Attack) level 25.5 and an Espeon 91% 15 Attack but only ZH/P level 23. Are these worth powering up? I do not have a Mewtwo. I also have a level 30 80% Machamp with Cross Chop / Bullet Punch. Working towards an FTM to change the BP and a 89% Machoke ;evel 20 Attack 14 with 73 candies and working to evolve. I have had terrible luck with Machamp.

As always, it depends what you want to do with your game (are you building up to solo raid bosses? etc)

If I had those 3 unique pokemon and was going to power one up it would be the Espeon with the intention to TM Psychic to Future Sight ASAP. The champ and alakazam are easily raided and you don't have the best power up options there currently. The champ is a low IV with the need for 2 TMS. The Al is a glass cannon with only 12 attack.

I would farm Machamp raids and get a +90% iv one. Espeon was a fun defender in the old gym system, Confusion hit like a truck. I have one maxed out because of this, and never really use her anymore. Confusion/Zen Headbutt are boring to play with (slow), and no raid boss or relevant gym defenders are weak to Psychic.
Edit: If tier 3 solo raids are your passion, then Alakazam and Espeon are both useful. Both will be outclassed by next gen, Mewtwo and Metagross (maybe Gardevoir too) and several Psychic legendaries.
Machamp will still be the most powerful fighting type, Hariyama, Breloom or Blaziken do not have the stats to threaten him. And Machamp already has the best moves available, gen 3 ones might get screwed with bad movesets.

I partially disagree. Hariyama might be good, with way more tankiness than Machamp, albeit slightly lower attack. And there could be some new fighting moves that are really good for the gen3 fighters, and Machamp may get a move nerf (although the old ones will still be good,) or his moves might get nerfed. If DP goes to 80 or 70, it will be just average. And Close Combat could be buffed to 110 or 120, which would rock for that move. That said, farming Machamp is a good idea - I'm worried that they will change the raid bosses with G3, and we could lose Machamp. Although gaining something in the Metagross and Salamance families would be a win, even if it's gen1, I expect them to be as rare as Dratini.

Imo best case scenario for Hariyama is to be equally as good as Machamp. My point was that Machamp is a safe long term investment.
If a Niantic guts all Machamps movesets so that he gets outclassed by statistically weaker/similar pokemon, whats the point of using any resources on any pokemon?

Exactly. Niantic should tread carefully when deciding to tweak existing moves in the future. If they nerf Dynamic Punch, for example, after many players have spent precious TMs to get it, they’ll have a revolt on their hands.

Save the Cross Chop Machamp and hope Cross Chop gets a buff.

Do Machamp raids to look for a high IV Machamp with Dynamic Punch. (If you can't solo, find another player to go with you. Easily done with two.)

If you need a psychic attacker, I have always been more satisfied with the bulkier Exeggutor.

Machamp. The psychic type is a joke.
