Machamp Solo without super effective damage
I've done it!! Took 2 tries without using a single Psychic, flying or fairy move but it was so satisfying. Machamp had counter dynamic punch.

Lineup:
L30 Gengar (5 attack) SC Shadow Ball
L38 Dragonite (15 attack) DTOR
L30 Gengar (11 Attack) SC Shadow Ball
L30 Gengar (14 Attack) SC Shadow Ball
L33 Dragonite (14 Attack) DTOR
L30 Flareon (15 Attack) FSFT
Anyone want to try the other tier 3s in this format?

Machamp has Def 162
Arcanine has Def 166
Vaporeon Def 177
Gengar has Def 156
I think these 4 can be done, but for vaporeon would probably need 6 maxed dragonites or something.
Gengar has lower defense than machamp so should be even easier, although you are not 'allowed' to use gengar (keeping in mind dragonite is still 99% of gengar DPS)
Even though they have lower defence I think they're more difficult to take down because you'll be taking more damage compared to your Machamp lineup, 3 Gengars with triple resistance to fighting and 3 Dragonites with single resistance compared to Gengar.
The timing was quite tight without dodging and you were down to your last Pokemon. And against Arcanine and Gengar there aren't any Pokemon with resistances like Gengar has to fighting so you'd be taking more damage, which probably means you'd have to dodge to make sure your 6 Pokemon don't faint but also not use too much time dodging else you'll time out, whereas against Machamp with your lineup you could just tap your screen for the entire raid duration.
Yes, I could see how my flareon was wrecked by the dynamic punch just before Machamp fainted. However I was facing dynamic punch, not even close combat, so this is in a way a 'harder' machamp already. Also consider I am using Level 30 Gengars, two of them have 5 attack and 11 attack. If I powered a better one or higher levels it would've been less close.
As you are aware the 'soloability' of bosses depend heavily on moveset. E.g. Counter/HS machamp would destroy my gengar. I could make a case for soloing focus blast gengar with dragons, for example. Also Confusion/FB Alakazam wasn't done until less than a month ago, so the possibility of completing challenges X and Y also depend on moveset (e.g. Xatu solo or Lugia 1on1)
Vaporeon I can still see a chance though- Water gun is so weak, and I recall doing my vaporeon solos without much dodging using the grasses (which are glassier than dragonite)
Arcanine I've done with 1 maxed dragon and 1 Ttar and 1 Vaporeon. I'll see if I can do it with 3 maxed dragons when I finish maxing my next two. It was fire blast though, so it is easy.
Congrats, this is really cool and an interesting challenge. I just checked the DPS values, looks as if in this respect your Flareon with FT was by far the weakest link in the chain (guess you were not really relying on him, right?). Compared to your team I am short one DT/O-Dragonite and one SC/SB Gengar. Will check my stock for possible substitutes.
Do you mind sharing your dodging strategy?
I did not dodge at all (or when I did, I failed)... I was incredibly fortunate that I rolled counter dynamic punch as Gengars triple resist this moveset. Close combat would have been even better but C/DP presented no problem for this squad.
Yes I am aware Flareon is by far the worst but he still does alright and as he is my last pokemon to mop up. I was debating whether to use Moltres but it had overheat so i think flamethrower Flareon can do better for the final 5 seconds if it come down to it.
Anyway, you picked your team well. My DB/DC dragonite will undercut your Flareon, other than that nothing comes even close (I had some hopes for my level 39 jolteon, but no cigar).
I really hate you, I had just decided against powering up a third Gengar. Also, I would need to ctm a level 20 dragonite to O, power it up and probably use rare candy in the process. I therefore just might have to sit this one out.
I think soloing the other t3 bosses w/o super effective mon would, to the extent possible, also (just) require dragonites, possibly in conjunction with the glass cannons gengar, alakazam and espeon. The rest just won't cut it dps wise I am afraid.
You have a level 39 jolt, but no higher dragonites? I would've thought most people have 1-2 maxed
Anyway the Gengars were the MVP here for sure, but honestly don't power one just to do this - I had 3 even before Gen 2 so I just thought I had some fun with them (along with using them for alakazam solo)
Well, I don't use trackers and am not living near a river, so I was never drowning in dratini candies. Walked my way to my first dragonite during last year's Halloween event.
In the old system, I mostly walked defenders (Snorlax, Blissey). In the new system, specialists have become more important than dragonites, so I focused my attention on ttar and the like.
Long story short: I currently have two pet dragonites at level 36 and just cannot find a reason to push them further or power up a new one (have two level 20 with unattractive move sets still in stock from the old days), let alone walk one for candies.
Btw, I actually have two level 39 jolteons. Overkill for sure, but I had to fight a lot of Gyarados in the old days, haha.
I'm thinking:
IT/SE Ttar
DT/O Dragon
FS/O Moltres
TS/WC Raikou
FS/O Charizard
VW/SB Venusaur?
Edit: Top 10 Relative Neutral DPS mons by best moveset
1 Dragonite Dragon Tail Outrage 0.9918
2 Flareon Fire Spin Overheat 0.9746
3 Charizard Fire Spin Overheat 0.8887
4 Arcanine Fire Fang Fire Blast 0.8197
5 Houndoom Fire Fang Fire Blast 0.8096
6 Jynx Frost Breath Avalanche 0.8067
7 Typhlosion Ember Overheat 0.7972
8 Jolteon Thunder Shock Thunderbolt 0.7833
9 Gyarados Dragon Tail Hydro Pump 0.7804
10 Tyranitar Iron Tail Stone Edge 0.7777
I'm not terribly surprised.
Dragonite tends to be a Good almost Supreme Counter to nearly everything because it has a boat load of resistances (fire, water, fighting) and does a lot of neutral damage.
I wonder if it would be possible to
1) Take this step farther and do it without Damage Resistance pokemon.
or
2) Solo a boss without anything listed as any sort of counter on the bosses page.
