Stagnant Gym Pokes Returned?

So I've had an Espeon in a gym near me for a couple weeks - it's one of those gyms which rarely sees turnover because it's at an awkward intersection of a busy road outside of town - nowhere to really park there.

But I just noticed I got it back with full HP. No notice in my journal that it had been kicked out. I already got my coins for today, so I don't care much about that, but did this happen to anyone else. Just updated the app this morning to the new version.

I also restarted the app just in case it was a glitch - still have the Espeon, no notice in journal.
