yes.

It matches many of my own thoughts on the matter, so yes.

For the most part.

But I do not agree on the tips regarding Entei and Moltres. Do not invest in them. Ho-Oh will outperform them both. I guess GamePress overlooked Ho-Oh because it's not a gen 3 pokemon.

But Entei and Moltres possibly will be supreme counters against prominent gen 3 mons like Metagross, Registeel and Regice

This is true, but prior to the raid meta (or even Gen 2), many trainers had high level Arcanine (pre CP nerf) and Flareon (post CP change and Gen 2 with fire spin overheat). Moltres or Entei does not provide much of a meaningful difference for performance in raids, unless you are always aiming +3 balls or want to 4 team articuno etc. Flareon/Canine will easily get you +2 balls in a smaller group.

It is same case with Articuno, who is clearly the best Ice type now. However, would you power one if you already had a 2k+ lapras?

Don’t forget they are great generalists (at least Moltres), plus have higher bulk than Flareon, or much more base attack than Arcanine, Articuno is pretty worthless, so many rare candies required and it’s stats aren’t that impressive, it can’t learn avalanche and is weak to steel moves and also fire (in case Salamence carries Fire Fang or something)

How is Moltres a generalist? It is NVE vs Gyarados, Dragonite, Tyranitar, Vaporeon, Rhydon, 5 of the most common defenders ever. It is an excellent matchup vs a DG Blissey, but it does not win any speed contest, and given how people chuck 50 potions away at a time nowadays, why not just use a Machamp.

Yes I agree, I'd take 5 Entei to a Articuno/Regice/Metagross raid if I was given the option, but is it really of that much benefit over 5 Arcanine/Flareon?

Moltres has raw damage near that of Dragonite and a really good charge move. However, its charge moves are only one-bar.

Ho-oH doesn't have a fire quick move and his only fire charge is FB which is inferior to OH. He can be a great generalist but not in the same role as the fire attackers.

All in all, nice article. Just curious though, Dragonite will surely be outclassed by Salamence, no? Or is Dragonite a better generalist than Salamence, as the article suggests (?)

It'll depend on moveset because their stats are really close, but even if Salamence does turn out to be slightly better, Dragonites are still going to be great attackers.

If you power a Dragonite now and it helps you with tons of raids, then it's not a wasted investment if Salamence is a better Dragon-type attacker.

Agree that it's going to depend on movesets. If it matters to Niantic -- and I think it does -- Salamence can not currently learn Outrage in the current generation. If that holds here, then Dragonite will have that edge. But outside of 'mence (which I'm looking forward to having), the other dragon contenders are all legendaries.

Edit: I think that Dragonite is safe for the foreseeable future. It's still very useful in the main games up through gen 7. Yeah, there are different -- and arguably better -- types of dragons coming (Garchomp and Hydreigon in later gens for example), but I still love Dragonites whatever the game.

I agree that if you're determined to spend stardust than you should according to their list. I however feel there's no reason to spend stardust in this game right now and that the safest investing strategy is to wait for Niantic to give us a real reason to spend it.

Gym's are too easy to take down, defenders don't matter much. The current meta incentivizes you to spend all your stardust to marginally up your individual DPS against a given raid boss... which I personally have never experienced a situation where me not having an extra couple TTars in my lineup has prevented me from beating a raid.

If your love for this game is attempting to complete a raid with the minimum amount of people than yes, spend away, otherwise I'd say hold off.
