98% IV Mud Slap Megahorn Rhydon worth using/powering up?

Hello! I have a 14 15 15 (98%) IV Rhydon with this moveset. Megahorn has the lowest DPS of any of Rhydon's charge moves, and doesn't benefit from STAB. With rhydons recent buff, is it strong anyway? Should I use it? Should I power it up? Rhyhorn is extremely rare in my area

Megahorn is about 9% worse than Earthquake on offense. I guess it's not useless, but it's still significantly worse than Earthquake or Stone Edge which are within 1% of each other.

Megahorn is still weak to water attacks.

Megahorn puts a big hurt on Exeggutors (1.56x damage). It's the only silver lining for a not-so-great moveset.

You're not going to use a Rhydon to fight Exeggutor though, both of Rhydon's quick moves get resisted by Exeggutor's typing which negates (or more than negates) any extra damage you'd get from Megahorn, and if Exeggutor has Seed Bomb or Solar Beam you're even more screwed.

Judge attacking movesets based on who you're realistically going to use those Pokemon against, not niche cases where it's still not that great.

Like I said, just a silver lining. I tested my megahorn Rhydon against lots of Exeggs. Does very well against just psychic moves. Seed Bomb is survivable... but you're right, if Solar Beam happens to be around.... it's almost lights out.

You generally would not be using a Rhydon with Megahorn as an attacker. Megahorn is intended as a counter move so that you can put Rhydon in a gym and maybe surprise a grass pokemon or a Starmie/Slowbro. Given that STAB and type advantage both offer the same multiplier (unlike the main games), STAB is usually the better option.
