Pokemon go; an illusion

As a retired player i've been wondering why you people keep playing the game when there's no challenge. Why try and find 100% IV mons when you can take gyms and bosses down with anything? Why catch pokemon when you've already finished your dex etc.

The answer is that you hope one day the game will actually become a good game. So you're building your army, ready for when that moment comes. ready for when PvP comes out and your maxed out, 100% mewtwo might make all the difference.

In reality, this isn't going to happen. The game will never evolve into anything challenging. Besides the novelty of having to go outside and find pokemon it's a simple minded game, always will be.

I made this mistake too, of thinking i was preparing for something bigger. Eventually i realized this is all an illusion and it was time to concentrate on Real life.

Happy trails, travellers.

best post so far lol.

I don't regret playing, i had fun while i did. I was always concerned by how Niantic were running the game, i hoped they were get better in time. But after more than a year, it's clear they're not going to change. Niantic don't care, long as they're selling raid passes.

I know i'm not alone, some people in my raid group feel the same. Others people will blindly slap down anyone who criticizes the game, like on this thread. That's the people Niantic appeals to :)

No, you douche, people keep slamming your piece of trash posts because you keep ending your goddamn replies with phrases like that, and with the clear intent of posing yourself as a "superior" player by belittling anyone who disagrees with your stupid boredom and disappointment in a goddamned mobile game! Get a life and quit spewing poison on this site, we are all tired of hearing how much you don't like the game and how high you think of yourself for feeling that way. If you need someone, anyone to listen to you and your imaginary problems go get an appointment with a therapist, you self-entitled baby.

Some good points you make.
But I'd add, 'what other games do we play where the rules keep changing every few months?!?'.
Po Go is very odd in that respect...

Is this game an illusion? Of course, aren't all games? But it's a wonderful distraction from the challenges of RL, and for that I love it.

I have a stressful job and this game has helped me a lot. I used to never exercise so much - I walk almost every day (to the PoGo gym on my lunch break - before I started playing nearly a year ago I often didn't take a break at all in my 12+ hour work day). I went to a lovely beach today, only 18 miles from here, that I had ignored for years... this game brought me back, and I find AR is a great enhancement of RL leisure time. It's fun looking for seashells and Shellder! I also found new parks and trails thanks to PoGo and TSR's Nest Atlas. In addition, the game cheers me up and makes me laugh - I enjoy kicking rivals out if gyms (they seem to feel the same way ;)

I don't like the current raid system... t4 and t5 raids are out if reach in this rural area. So I set myself the goal of soloing t3 bosses. I'm getting close to level 38, and looking forward to gen 3. So I have plenty of reasons to play!

But that's me, of course, and I understand your goals are different and this game may no longer be a good fit for you. However, I wonder if that's really true since you keep posting here (you're welcome to, of course).

Good luck, whatever you decide to do.

Ofc the exercising is appealing for some people, that is a good reason :) I work out, walking 20 kms a day is bad for gains :( you end up not eating enough and burning too many calories. i was already a fitness freak without GO :D

It is good for exploring new places aswell like you say. I have good memories of that and other things in GO. Like i said i don't regret the time i was an addict :)

Right now in my country, most of the active players are age 40+, the young ones (and I) quit after they completed the gen1 dex, which is more than half a year ago

I rejoin a month ago and still the only content they added is the raid battle, no wonder people quit this game, its development is way far behind than the users' expectation
