How much more powerful is a maxed out Tyranitar?

I was fortunate last weekend to hatch a 100% Larvitar. I immediately evolved it and got double dark moves. I also powered it to level 30. I have enough candies to max it out to level 39 (Not gonna do the 3 button trick). My question is how much does a maxed out Tyranitar truly scale? I vaguely remember bite being optimized at level 30 or something. Is it better to have one maxed out 100% Tyranitar? Or three level 32, 90+ iv Tyranitars? Just how powerful is a level 39 Tyranitar?

Depends on what you're doing with it. If you want to raid Mewtwos, three level 30's are much more powerful than one level 39. But if you want to take down a gym fast (dunno why), the one will be stronger. Or for PvP, it totally depends on the format - is it 1 mon vs. 1, or 6 vs. 6? We don't know that yet.

You can answer the CP question here - put in your values to the CP calculator (part of the IV calculator), and you can get the CP, HP, candy and dust for any level you choose to evolve to.

I powered my best from 30 to 35. why? because I couldn't beat the stupid Gengar Boss I was battling without doing that. Sometimes those small increases help in a specific situation.

A 100% Iv Tyranitar used Bite once on Maxed out Mewtwo’s groin and met certain death so what do you think?

Bite maxes out with 7 damage at level 27.5 with 15 attack IV against Mewtwo, so levelling further is going to give you more HP, defence and a small increase to your charge move damage - in the case of Crunch it's 0 or 1 extra point of damage per power up.

A level 30 perfect Tyranitar will have 157 HP, take 10 damage per Confusion and Crunch will deal 74 damage per use.

A level 39 perfect Tyranitar will have 168 HP, take 9 damage per Confusion and Crunch will deal 79 damage per use.

Level 32 has no significant breakpoints, you're spending 20k dust and 20 candies just for +2 HP and +1 damage to Crunch which is really not worth it, but level 32.5 with 15 defence IV reduces Confusion's damage from 10 to 9.

Not that big of a difference compared to powering 2 more Tyranitars from level 20 to 30 or 3 Tyranitars from level 20 to 27.5, both would cost you less candies.

20 -> 27.5 costs 51,500 dust and 46 candies
20 -> 30 costs 75,000 dust and 66 candies
30 -> 39 costs 130,000 dust and 152 candies

If you don't already have 6 Tyranitars with max Bite damage, then powering them up to that point is a more efficient investment than powering up this perfect Tyranitar if you're maximising your total damage in Mewtwo raids, or if you're trying to do Mewtwo with as few people as possible.

This is a great way to think about it. I had a 96% B/C ttar that I kept at Lv30.5 for a long time. It helped me solo Gengar, PC/FS Zam, and was the lead in both my MewTwo raids.

It wasn't until I started trying to solo the harder Alakazam movesets that I decided to power it up much farther than that. But by that point I had 5Ttars at Lv28 or higher. Even then the only reason I did it was because I had a ton of candies from the anniversary event and dust from the equinox event. OTherwise, it'd probably still be there.

(it's still not even maxed yet, I'm bringing the others up along with it before I go all the way).

At 32.5 Tyr takes one less damage per Confusion.
I powered up 3x 98% Tyranitar (all with 15iv Def) to lev 32.5
