Anyone else FORCED to buy these event boxes?
Prior to the event, I haven't had a 10 KM egg in like 2 months. But the moment the event starts and the event boxes are released, 10KM eggs have been dropping like crazy. I already bought one special box and have used up ALL the super incubators ONLY on 10 KM eggs (so that's nine 10KM eggs I've gotten and hatched) and I just received 2 more 10 KM eggs, tonight. So I was forced to buy another special box for the super incubators.
One 10 KM egg in 2 months vs eleven 10 KM eggs in a few days. Damn you, Niantic. You evil bastards! Taking my money like that.
FYI, I did hatch a 98% IV Lapras with Ice Beam. So It's not ALL that bad. :D

First time I see someone complaining on getting too many 10k eggs.
But to be honest most of the 10k I received during the event were crap. I hatched at the beginning 3 10k eggs that were collected before the event and got 2x dratini and 1 larvitar. Then from eggs collected during the event 2x aero, 3x porygon, 1 Lapras and 1 dratini. So I prefer getting a few eggs with better chances to be useful than many eggs with high precent of crap. At least I didn't get sudo and skarmory :)
All these people hating because you used the word "forced", c'mon guys, Mikster is right. If the nomenclature bothers you Niantic has clearly "encouraged" the purchasing of the special boxes by massively increasing the drops of the 10ks during this event, and while it's galling to have hatched 12 Aerodactyls, 7 Porygons, 4 Miltanks, and 5 Sudowoodo (and, sure a single Dratini), while my last set of 9 10ks right before the event yielded 2 Larvitar, 2 Mareep, and 3 Dratini, I don't turn my nose up to all the extra dust I've earned during the event.
And if you were to not invest in any super incubators at all (or didn't have some regular ones when the event started, you would almost definitely be left with 9 10ks from the event, long after it finishes, that completely lack 3 of the more desirable hatches from the 10k pool (Dratini, and possibly Snorlax and Lapras not withstanding).
Also, with the price of the Special Box being only 30 more than three regular incubators, it isn't a bad deal if you've saved up some coins from gyms (I don't personally advocate spending real money on them).
No I replied no because I have no interest in buying the boxes.
In fact, ever since the anniversary I have only been using the infinite incubator.
I saw this "deal" as a money grab. You make a good point about the 10kms dropping more (at least it coincides from my experience) but I'm saving my coins for gen 3, for which then I will use my saved up coins on incubators. You could make the counter argument that I could buy super incubators to hatch them faster (which means nothing to me lol, they are still going to hatch either way) but I'd rather save 20 coins/box to invest in incubators or any future deals.
I'm not willing to spend money on this game anymore and have been frugal with my coin spending which is why I replied "no." Not because of the word "forced."
Guess I touched a nerve for ya there, and I suppose certain nomenclature really does trigger many people and I should have been considerate enough to use the word "disagreeing" instead of "hating", not that anything I said is particularly contradictory to anything you said beyond your one word initial response to OP (I.E. my last sentence of not suggesting people spend actual money on the game, period, not just for the current special boxes, maybe that's what actually set you off? since you've spent actual money before).
And best of luck getting through that many crap filled 10ks before Gen 3 with one infinite incubator (honestly) unless you've got God Tier luck and end up with 6 Dratinis and 3 Lapras. I personally have found the entire lifespan of the game that incubators were the only thing worth spending gym coins on, raid passes still strike me as he biggest money grab, but perhaps that perspective on my part was earned because of my shit RNG with raid bosses despite my near perfect ratio of great/excellent curveball throws.
You didn't touch a nerve; I saw that Berry dale and I were the only two posts that disagreed with the OP's opinion, which is why I was defending the counter argument, or rather, my point. I apologize if my post came off as condescending. You originally said "Sir Mikster is right," which I disagree with.
I did spend money, especially during the first couple months of the games release, but since then I've stopped (I have all the good iv Pokémon that I desire).
I just don't think this "deal" was worth it, especially since the eggs being hatched were 2kms, which grant little candy, and the incubators hatch Pokémon faster. Had this event been a deal where one could buy 5 incubators for the price of 4, then yes I'd be more about it.
Also aren't Dratini and larvitar relatively common for 10km hatches? Lastly as much as raid passes are, if one is attempting to obtain a high Iv Tyranitar, would raises passes or incubators be more effective?
