Best fairy-slayer?
I'm starting to see more Clefable and Granbull crop up in gyms, and I only really have one counter at level 30 - a Crobat with Sludge Bomb. This guy does the job, but I like to have an "optimal" counter to each common gym defender powered up to level 30 (just a little challenge I set myself really). So what would you guys say is the optimal Clefable-counter? I was thinking maybe either double-steel Scizor or double poison Nidoqueen? Or maybe Muk is preferable? Opinions welcome :-)

I have been using a level 27 Gengar with Shadow Claw/ Sludge Bomb. I haven't had much other chances to let her shine anywhere, so that is nice. Especially cool to use Gengar against Clefable given the fan theory about them. If fairy defenders become more common here, I might take it up to level 30 --unless I get a double steel Scizor before that.
Steelix could work too, if you have one powered for defense and it has double steel moves. Mine has Dradon Tail/Crunch, which is good for defense but unfortunately useless against fairy defenders. I wouldn't mind spending a fast TM on Steelix, but don't really want to spend any charge TMs on it.
Gengar is a good choice if you don't forget that Wiggly has a dual typing that walls ghost and dark moves (although Gengar works perfectly fine against Granbull and Clefable)
Interestingly I do remember the autoselect bringing up gengar vs clefable when it still had sludge bomb! I TMed it away to shadow ball now.
Yeah, haven't seen Wigglytuff for a long time though. I've placed one a few times in all pink themed gyms, but everyone else seems to have transferred all of theirs.
Gengar is hurt by Clefable's psychic moves and Granbull's dark moves, so I am long-term looking for a better choice. It is just a fun option when I occasionally see one.
Scizor with dual steel type moves, or Muk with both poison type. Scizor will have more ATK power but won't have as much STA as Muk which has a nice balanced ATK/DEF/STA.
Scizor could be use against further rock type Pokémon (Tyranitar, Rhydon, Golem) but either or is up to you. I'd look ahead to the generation 3 fairy types with dual attributes (Gardevoir Psychic/Steel).
I personally like Muk more, but you'll have to worry about Zen Headbutt psychic attacks. If you're curious about future fairy encounters try out Metagross, Aggron, and Mawhile gen 3.
