Is Ursaring a better fighter than Machamp?

I've got this Machamp: 2339CP, max HP and Attack, 96% IV. Moveset: Counter / Dynamic Punch.
And this Ursaring: 1548 CP, max HP, 89%. Moveset: Counter, Close Combat.

My machamp barely does any damage with Counter, while my Ursaring does 2x as much to a Blissey. Ursaring has 236 base atk while Machamp has 234, but the difference seems huge between the two. It also has a huge advantage against Blisseys that use psychic or DG since it's not weak to either, unlike Machamp. Should I start searching for the best Teddyursa I can find and focus on upgrading it instead of my Champ?

Only if you are doing it for diversity and fun reasons. From the old days I have a maxed out Ursaring. Although I like him, looking at things objectively I have to say that he is worse than my equally maxed out c/dp machamp in every respect.

It's true that he does not have the same weaknesses as fighting mons, but the additional power of machamp more than makes up for that (ursaring is not particularly bulky anyway). His kill speed in tyranitar raids is also way worse than that of a c/dp machamp.

Well, as far as Blissey takedowns go, this Ursaring that isn't even the same level as the Champ seems to be stronger for some reason. He's lvl 20 and the Champ is lvl 28.5. That's what I find strange. I mean, what's the thing factoring in here for the 2x damage dealt by the Ursaring with Counter?

I had a maxed out 98% Ursaring way before I had a decent Machamp. I've always said the same thing on how it is so good against Blissey and Snorlaxes with Psychic moves. I finally got a good Machamp ,93%, and C/DP is better overall than C/CC from Ursaring. DP being a 2 bar move plus benefits from STAB actually makes that little difference.

Well, no idea what's up with this Machamp that's being outdone by the Ursaring, but hopefully he will dish out more damage once he gets maxed out. Because it's ridiculous how a lower level Ursa with 89% and only 12 in Atk can be a quicker Blissey eater than a 96% champ with 15 on Atk and HP.

The only way that ursaring does more damage than that machamp is if you don't actually attack with your machamp.

Anyway, I had quality Ursarings long before I had a quality Machamp. I found my Ursaring to be far inferior to my Flareon and Exeggutor when it came to taking out Blissey. Then I got a great raid Machamp and it wipes the floor. You absolutely need to dodge, but the timing is pretty easy. You go hit, hit, dodge, hit, hit, dodge. Watch for the special, dodge it, and unleash dynamic punch.

I am attacking but the fast attack (Counter) does about half the damage the Ursaring's Counter does per hit. That's what confuses me. This isn't taking into account charged attacks, just fast attacks.

It could be some HP bug or something, if my Champ gets fainted on the same round, and then I switch to Ursaring, the Ursaring will drain the HP off the Blissey way faster with fast attacks.

The only way I can see your comparison of C/CC Ursaring being twice as good as C/DP Machamp being true is if you have them mixed up. The Ursaring is actually 2300 and the Machamp is only 1500.

this makes no sense to me either. machamp is far superior than ursaring when attacking blisseys/snorlaxes/ and def tyranitars.

Machamp is superior, but not far superior.

No mixup here, the Counter of my Machamp seems to deal less damage than the Counter of my Ursaring, and I am not counting DP and CC into the equation, just the fast attack. Here they are. Note that I have upgraded the Machamp a bit more after the post.

Here's what I'm experiencing with them:
Blissey fight starts. I put in my Machamp. No dodge, all out. He takes a small amount of HP with Counter. Then I let him die since no dodging (I can't dodge even if I wanted to, the lag is bad). Then I bring out Ursaring. I use Counter. Does 2x as much damage to that Blissey in the same round with Counter. Could it be a bug?

I see it as one of these things:
1. You have somehow completely misinterpreted the levels/cp of these pokemon (you say you haven't and I believe you)
2. You misinterpret the opponent's health bar
3. You are experiencing some extreme lag and all of machamp's damage is tacked on after he faints and while ursaring is fighting.
4. You are experiencing an extreme hp bug.

My guess is 3 or 4 or a combination. Machamp is undoubtedly the best attacker against Normal/Dark pokemon despite his weaknesses to Blissey's attacks.

I think it could be a hp bug, or the game somehow lowers the CP of Blissey after the Machamp loses, I have not kept my eyes on Blissey's CP, but I did see gym pokemon lose their CP if I lost to it but only upon a total team wipeout.

I will try to take a screenshot of the round with damage dealt by Machamp's fast attack and one with Ursaring's fast attack vs Blissey, hopefully tomorrow. Shouldn't be too hard to find a Blissey in an enemy gym. Or maybe if i can get any recording software, that would be even better.

All I could find was a low CP Blissey to fight against, but I've put the Ursaring first and then the Machamp. Now he seems to be doing more damage than Ursaring. Granted I've upgraded Machamp since the last fight, he's much stronger now.
