Driven by two of the topics below, I want to share my current personal PoGo challenges and hear from others.
Short notes:
- fresh lvl 39, I liked the old gym system (enjoyed demolishing and building 10 lvl towers),
- but I like more the raids.
- being a social person I see the good part of being a good game for noobs, I see a lot more active players then in May.
Getting back to challenges:
- solo Flareon (my obsession)
- solo confusion Alakazam
- legendary raiding with minimum viable number: 3 for Entei was far harder than I imagined with Android guys :), managed only on 3rd trio encounter; before Entei we were pleased with minimum + 1 (did multiple trio Moltres with my colour only, failed trioing Zapdos at the limit, did not managed to synchronize a 5 party for Lugia) but now +1 is not a challenge anymore, can be accomplished by knowledgeable mid 30s.
- level 4 raiding with minimum number (2 or 3, depending on the boss) - still in progress, done only with minimum + 1 for a few of them.
I'm pretty sure Flareon is impossible. Alakazam is barely doable and that's got a lower defense, plus it's counters have better attack than Vaporeon. If you can solo flareon with an android you're the greatest pokemon master in the universe. Challenge ;)
You've got me well beat on murkrow candies, i'm gonna admit defeat on that one :(
It's not possible. Even with all maxed out Vaporeon, they do not have the enough DPS to solo Flareon of any movesets.

He used 4 100% maxed out Golem, plus some almost perfect dodging. Don't forget Golem's Rock Throw/Stone Edge does more damage to Flareon than Vaporeon's Water Gun/Hydro Pump.
Having done all the tier 3 solos except Flareon jolteon and a confusion Zam, I am moving towards your goals as well.
I still solo tier 3s if I can't find a legendary raid for the day so I don't waste the free pass, but I'm running out of ideas on the execution (used to be 'just winning' but now I create variations like 6 unique pokemon, try for the lowest time, using 3 Pokemon to solo etc.)
Would love to 2 man Ttar at some point, I hope 5 Machamps and a heracross would do, although only 1 champ is maxed out.

regarding soloing the other 3, bioweapon thread was a breath of fresh air, good ideas to do it with max lvl 30 mons or with a team of 6 different ones :). Did not tried yet, still other goals in progress :).
Regarging TTar duo, there is a recent video with lvl 36? machamps (Counter breakpoint vs. TTar) and max revives (I think iPhones:) ), so easier to try/accomplish than with initial idea of 4 lvl 39 C/Dp Machamps like the two Japanese trainers from several month ago.
I share your thoughts that the old gym system was more enjoyable and challanging. The amount of draft in this game was already very limited, but completely erased by the new gym & raid update.
Side note, being a social person myself, I don't feel the need to interact with Pokemon GO players, because let's face it, many people who are still playing these days are not the average person I would go out with. However, it is interesting to meet different kind of persons that I would otherwise never have communicated with.
