I was holding onto it for a long time, but at some point I accidentally transferred it while clearing out my PC without even realizing until much later.

I gave my Charmander freedom long long long time ago...
I leveled up to 38 catching a wild Pikachu 2 months ago.

I still do as well, wasn't hip enough at the time to spawn pikachu though

I can't even remember what it was. I'm big on weeding out all but the best 1 or 2 of most pokes. My oldest is a hitmonchan from 7/13/2016 and I started 7/9.

Unfortunately, I don't have a starter... back in July '16, I thought this game was ridiculous (oh, what a fool I was) but my daughter started an account with my email as she didn't have her own phone yet. She quickly lost interest (age 11) and stopped playing.

I got interested during the Halloween event and took over the account at level 3 or 4. Clueless, I probably transferred the starter. So one of my first catches - a level 1 Gengar (now level 10 ;) - fills this role.
