[updated]https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/gym-defenders-tier-list

Suprised that Tyranitar and Gyarados are better defenders than Lapras, Ampharos and even Vaporeon lol.
Kindda agree that Slowbro and Slowking are put higher. And DT Dragonite is really a strong one regardless. Steelix is still...I don't know, one round of Fire Spin + Overheat from Moltres kills it.

What do you, as part of the community, think?

Steelix can be easily countered, making its tankiness basically useless in the meta.

I agree that Crunch Tyranitars can be at near the top of the list, but Stone Edge ones can be really far behind, not to mention Fire Blast. Just throw in a Machamp and Stone Edge would probably never be released.

Hydro Pump Gyarados lol, that was before the gym rework, I wonder why it is still the A moveset. Crunch is better, and Outrage ones can be even "anchored" by Charge Beam Clefables.

Rhydon is a great defender, maybe, but Vaporeons and Exeggutors can demolish it before being able to use Stone Edges.

Why is Espeon on the list? Just throw in a Mewtwo counter and destroy it. Alakazam, makes more sense, since the candies are much harder to come by, but still same reason as Espeon, gets destroyed by Mewtwo counters. Same fate on Hypno, despite being strictly tankier.

Psybeam on Chansey deals laughable damage to Tyranitars, Houndooms, even Murkrows!

I really believe that the person who made the list is not the person who graded the moves

I personally think that no Eeveelution deserves to be on the list, if they can only learn STAB moves. Not even Vaporeon.

I think this list is moving towards 'wasting time' rather than 'wasting potions'. Gyarados and Dragonite would force you to switch if you want to take it down quickly (unless you are running the Dragonite v Dragonite kamikaze strategy), which add another 5s to the timer (and another 5s to switch out)

Vaporeon is still a bit of a time sink though, but now we have Zapdos/Raikou attackers.

Steelix's worst enemy is not moltres- it is machamp who everyone probably has at least 3 now to deal with snorlax and blissey.

Same with Lapras, defeated by machamp effortlessly

Seriously though with all these raids going on and the rare candy dropping from the sky even the old A tiers (Steelix Lapras) are dispatched so easily.

defending is a thing?

It is in my area. Gym defense strategies are still very important where I live because absolutely everyone spoofs. I believe there are over 300 spoofers active 27/7 in my town and it pretty much is just a rural area. Still feels like how it was before the gym rework, except I can actually get coins now being a filthy casual. But holding gyms is still important for some people in some places that's a fact.

Those days I'm usong Moltres, Zapdos amd Entei for taking down gyms to justify the dust and rares spent :).
Since almost no one spends golden razz on defence(only once someone use one on a Blissey) my Moltres walks all over gyms usually, even vs. mid motivation Vapes or Rhydons :).
Basically I find the list corect, but not relevat :).

Best use of Zapdos IMO is stopping Rhydon from being auto selected. I would power another but would really hope it's Raikou that I power and not Zapdos.

In my area, gym defense strategy is mostly irrelevant because outside of a few blisseys and snorlax, the defending pokemon are rarely powered up. A couple of powered up machamps will take down those, and you can use you own non-powered up pokemon to take out the remainder of the gym. A defender may have high IVs and a perfect moveset, but if it doesn't have a high CP it will go down easily to any halfway decent pokemon.

I took over 2 gyms today, defeating 12 mons. It cost me a total of 1 max revive to do this.

Steelix was put high in the list because it detains Mewtwo and Dragonite since it resist theirs STABs, it's true that falls quickly against Moltres, but Moltres right now doesn't deserve the dust and the precious RC, aside Steelix there's no relevant defender weak to fire, nor a raid boss. Machamp also does the work, but you will need Machamp too against Snor and Bliss (A high lever player will put one of these before Steelix, rarely there is "good gyms" without the fatty mons :P) so you will need more maxed Machamp and all with the ideal MS to wreck Steelix and the S defenders in the Gyms
