Dragonite 15atq 15hp 3def. is it perfect to attack?

I have a dragonite 15atq 15hp 3def, is it good to attack gym? I do not understand how these numbers work at the time of battle. Does the defense matter when I am attacking another pokemon? Is it worth spending stardust? \ sorry for my English

It is good to attach gyms and also for raids...IF it is already at high level, like 27+ so you save dust (don't spend much dust powering it up).

Defense does matter, but I think that's still a fine Dragonite. Whether or not you should power it up depends on your own situation. What level it is, how much dust you have, how common are Dratini candy... only you can decide if it's worth it.

I don't understand either.
But i have red that there is a rule of thumb about it.
It says that if the basevalues for Defense and Stamina are not equal, it's best to have the higher IV on the lower one.
But i have no idea how and why.
The article was writen in chinese and i thought if it's significant the subject will popup again anyway.
Im still curious, btw.

I heard that to determine how "tough" a pokemon is, multiply the health and defense stats. So a pokemon with 100 health and defense will be more durable than a pokemon with 150 health and 50 defense.

Now,now, 'really easy to faint'?
Dragonites bulk comes from his 201 basedefense not
from 12 IV points that may or may not come on top of it.
