Mewtwo's Focus Blast

Why Mewtwo's best moveset might not be Focus Blast? It's super effective against normal, steel, rock, ice and dark type while Shadow Ball is only good against Psychic and Ghost since we rarely see Ghost and Psychic type in gyms? Yes i got a hundo :)

I'm guessing it's because shadow ball works well against mewtwo raid bosses, and as a move shadow ball requires half the energy of focus blast; also both of its fast moves deal immune damage to dark types even if fighting may be super effective?

Mmmmmh interesting but in PoGO, they don't implimente immuity yet (immunity = 0.51 dmg)

That's exactly what I meant; dark takes "immunity" or .51x from psychic, even though focus blast deals 1.4x to dark types

From what I've heard, due to shadow ball being mewtwo's only two-bar charge move, it (by a number of individuals) seems to be a favored move.

I do agree, however, that fighting covers a muuuch greater range of typings.

I should also add in that many people want a squad to fight mewtwo and view mewtwo with shadow ball as an asset

With that being said, I think I'll run focus blast or psychic on mine in unison with psycho cut, not for fighting mewtwo but because those are the two movesets I want

There are a lot of possible future legendary raid bosses that have psychic/x typing. Pc/Sb Mewtwo will resist and be strong against their likely best movesets. I think that is the main appeal for Shadow Ball.

Focus Blast's really good for Gym fights.
Different uses than Shadow Ball, but still useful.

Shadow Ball is better because its base damage is so high (especially for a 2 bar move) and also because it isn't resisted by much. Double bar moves also give you a lot more flexibility when it comes to dodging.
