Tyranitar - Crunch or Stone Edge

Finally got one good IV Tyranitar through Raid with Bite / Crunch moveset.

Should it be changed to Stone Edge by CTM? It seems the Stone Edge is more useful.

Stone Edge overall is stronger and more useful in a wider range of raids right now, BUT Crunch is better against Mewtwo and one could argue that in the future a specialist double dark attacker would be preferable to a dark/rock attacker.

Personally I would keep it now for Mewtwo. A B/C TTar is also a really effective fast sweeper against gyms with weak motivation.

I'm in the opposite situation, keep getting stone edge on all my Tyranitars, and trying to decide whether to TM one or two of them. I do find it a little annoying being stuck with a full-bar move every time.

I got fire blast in 2/4. Tried to get crunch and it keeps switching between FB and SE. After running out of TM I learnt an important lesson. Once you get rid of FB keep whatever move, don't waste your TMs.

I would keep the crunch for now for mewtwo countering. However, I would keep the Stone edge Tyran too. The only Tyrantaur that needs CTM is Fire blast.

Yes, I already have another T-Tar with Stone Edge with lower IV (a12/d15/s10) which were powered up to lvl 32 for legendary birds.

Also, whenever gen 3 comes, double dark Tyranitar will be relevant against Metagross

The real selling point of Tyranitar for me is Bite. Don't get me wrong... Fireblast is sh*t but it has a nice DPS. More like Hyper Beam on Dragonite. As long as you don't get Fireblast on Charge moves you're good.

Stone Edge is Golem's job and Golem does it much better.

I can't believe people downvoted this comment. What you said is 100% spot on. If you want a rock attacker it's golem allll day. Double dark tyranitar is an amazing specialist against multiple raid bosses. even though stone edge tar is a great generalist I'd rather have specialists that hold up.

Because people are salty and they cant accept that they are wrong.
I like se ttars but if i need a rock attacker i go golem.
Unless they add a rock quick move to ttar which is impossible? Correct me if i wrong

i think either is fine. bite stone edge was also great on a mon like lugia. but wasting a charged TM on either is not smart to me because you could end up with fire blast.
