How do you evolve Espeon?

Is it correct that you buddy an Eevee for 10 km and then - while still your buddy - evolve it in the daytime?

Update 9/7: It worked! Got a fine Espeon with C/FS; decent IV's, powered up to level 31. (Now I'm going for a third one for my t3 solo attempts.)

Yes, you have to walk it for 10 km and receive two candies, and then evolve it in the daytime while still your buddy.

Be sure to finish the 10km in the daytime and evolve it right after collecting the 2nd candy. I once walked 10km at night, waited till the next day to evolve the eevee but got a flareon instead.

Then you did something wrong like not evolving it while it was still your Buddy.

Having evolved four and working on my 5th, most of my walking takes place during the night and I can still evolve Espeon. Just Buddy up with your best eevee, walk 10K for the two candies, and then evolve during daylight hours (within the game) for a Espeon while still being in "buddy" mode.

Just last week I hit 10K for my Eevee at 3am, and I waited to 7am to evolve it. So the checklist is, you got two eevee candies (10K), it's daytime within the game (or Night if you want a Umbreon), and you keep the same eevee you walked as your buddy and evolve it while its still your buddy.

Did you switch out when it was your buddy, or do the 10k as continuous? Third guess would be you did some of your walking when the Event was going on where it lowered your buddy distance. For those eevee evolves, you need to walk the full 10k.

Guess it was just a glitch then, so hopefully you got a decent flareon out of it for your troubles. And luckily, 10K isn't that far to walk. Even in a eevee rich environment, its longer to get a good IV eevee then walk the necessary 10K.

You can actually change to a new buddy after completing the 10km and 2 candy requirement. As long as you make it your buddy again before evolving, it will still work. (In case you want to save the evolution and dex entry for a lucky egg, or maybe you conplete the distance but need to wait till the next day or night to evolve.)

Wanted to add you also must have GPS working since if you are on a subway, the game won't know what timezone, area, etc...and you won't get Espeon...

I've evolved 3 with the walking trick and am 3/3 with it so it works if done right...

I don;t think it's "evolve it when it is still your buddy", I think it's "evolve it through the buddy screen".

That is, pull up the buddy screen, push down near the words "walk your buddy" (which opens up the regular pokemon screen", evolve from there.

I did this once and it worked for me.
