Ask them "Are you here for the (insert Pokemon name here) Raid?" as you're showing them the screen of your phone with the PoGo app on.

If I say anything at a raid, I go with "You guys bout to hit this raid?" When there's a group of like 10 people waiting by a raid, no talking is needed and I can continue to enjoy the game by myself.

I guess that people may react differently in different cultures. Here you just look at them and say "Hi, are you waiting for the XXX raid?"

If there is a hot girl, recuit her for a different raid boss Kappa.

Talk? Just say hi and ask them how they are doing, don't need to overthink such things. Same as you would approach anyone while going out. Go for it and don't overthink.

Option 1: pretend to call/actually call someone and say you are missing the last player for the raid. Ensure that the other player is close enough to hear
Option 2: "hey, are you here for the raid?"

in each case, no reference to Pokemon go is made. So you don't look like a weirdo if thats the problem.

i remember a guy asking a girl: "are you here for Lugia too?". She replied "no i'm here for ". So you can always ask the same and pretend the raid boss is an asiatic friend xD

As the founder of our local small town raid group, I have been doing this again and again. At first I dreaded it, but I got very used to it. I figured that I had to be pretty aggressive to find people to raid with since the game seemed dead when the rework happened. First couple of weeks were tough but a few early successes made me keep going. Basically I just approached everybody I saw playing PoGo (which were not very many) and informed them about the group. As of today, the facebook group has 115 members and we get enough for every legendary raid that appears. I'm pretty damn happy about that.
