where are my rare candies?
how is a potion an acceptable prize for soloing a raid boss? i have 112 max revives. i. throw. that. ****. away. A NANNY BERRY WOULD BE MORE USEFUL- atleast i get a tiny amount of stardust. i could literally have just spun a pokestop, not used my raid pass; it would have taken less time and i would get the same TOTALLY USELESS ITEM. breathe.

I get Potions, Revives, and exp most of the time. Rarely I'll get a Gold berry or candy. Potions (even Super Potions) are easier to acquire from pokestops, why would you battle for them? The problem here is that you fight a mon that will eat up your HP and will end up with you using any potion you get on the mon that you just used... to win Potions and most of the time nothing else. Even worse if you've battled a lvl 3 that fainted some of your mons, you end up getting potions + revives and nothing else, so then you just end up reviving and healing that mon that you used on the battle. The only thing of value won there would be the exp, but that aside, if you were lvl 40, that exp would not count as a win.
this is exactly what happened. since ppl complained about not getting potions, now its ridiculous, spin some stops! tms are now so rare, goldens are way less, revives and potions very plentiful and always end up in the trash because if you do a couple raids a day AND spin pokestops while at it, you end up with like 100 potions within an hour easy that just always need to be thrown away. There aren't enough hours in the day to battle this much to use all the potions. Plus the higher level your mons are, you don't need as many potions, usually i only need to revive/refill 3 or so pokemons so the extras always end up in the trash. bad deal!
Unless you live in a big, densely populated city, that's all most of us can do. And since Niantic got rid of the raid eggs, there's no way to guarantee a raid will be on a gym your team controls. And even if you managed all those premier ball increasing factors you can still easily wind up with merely larger amount of potions and revives instead of more useful items. All of jamesharden's points were pretty poorly thought through.
Agree with your RNG thought - TSR had a detailed breakdown of raid rewards, basically there are groups of items, and higher level raids give additional groups - and a group could be 1 TM, or 5 potions (for example). I think T4 and T5 raids give 4 "groups", but all groups could randomly end up as just potions and revives, as I have received for 3 of my last 4 raids. Disappointing that I get items from a raid that I can spin a pokestop for, wish there was a guarantee of at least 1 group of special item (GR, rare candy, or TM's) from Legendary raids, but then I caught my first electric dog today so happy about that! I'm also done spending any real $$$.
