Gen 3: Who will be the next Dragonite/Tyranitar?

Will Salamence take over as the best overall warrior in the next update? And is it safe to assume Slaking will be the next Snorlax/Blissy?

Depends on if mew2 stat reduction is a predictor of things to come.

Also, depends on if they get good, moves or not.

A lof of speculation is simplist fix,to slaking is to give him half power versions,of moves,to match his every other turn attack

Just give slaking much slower moves - a multi-second quick attack, and 10 second charge attack, or something like that?

Slaking as he is, is at ±300 attack, so he's nowhere near Blissey and Snorlax for comparison.

i think they will probably nerf slacking attack, metagross and salamence are the best pokes after slaking and the legendaries

there is no way they can leave Slaking as he is in this game. He would be completely broken.

Metagross will make the meta gross (again)

Salamence and Metagross are the gen 3 pseudo legendaries

I'm excited about Gardevoir.
Next in the list is metagross. Salamence is more of the same, I will probably put it last in the priority list for stardust and will only power up one. I already have too many dragonite

Metagross will be the next Dragonite/Tyranitar for Gen 3. Whilst both Metagross and Salamance are pseudo-legendaries like Dragonite and Tyranitar I believe Salamance will make a much less impact on the meta?

Why? Salamance's base stats aren't about the same as Dragonite and won't likely get any moves better than Outrage. As many people have already used lots of stardust powering up Dragonites if they now have enough dragon type attackers for their needs then powering up a Salamance becomes a waste of stardust. Perhaps one for novelty sake power up one but that's it. Whereas Metagross provides a new niche as a bulky attacker that resists dragon moves thereby being a more useful addition to spend dust on.

Slaking's stats provide such a balance problem that I expect like Ditto, Smeargle and Delibird it will be held back until Niantic figure out what to do with it.

Wailord fits the Blissey/Snorlax model best in the high HP/not good for much else model. Otherwise Aggron will likely be a bit of a surprise to some. Doesn't have huge HP like Blissey but has a defense stat equivalent to Steelix and 9 resistances but will hit MUCH HARDER. Attack stat equivalent to Venusaur and probably some strong rock and steel moves with STAB will hit back much harder than Snorlax/Blissey whilst proving very tanky.

Aggron is double weak to Fighting. One of the strongest type in the meta. And double week to Ground too, considering everyone has Rhydon and/or Machamp Aggron will be bad as defender

All true points about Aggron, but is it even much worth considering defender utility when thinking about the meta? Outside of Machamp and Rhydon raids or FB Mewtwos, Aggron could be surprisingly useful as a tanky 6th slot for most other raids.
