Stardust Hoarder...
For those stardust hoarder, what is/are the purpose(s) for your action?
For me, L38, 2.1m, too many pokemons can be maxed out, but seems no compelling reasons to max out (as the current teams of attackers are good enough for the current meta). Just maxed out a few my favorite mons.
Please share your thought.

I've been hoarding since the double dust event, except for about 100k spent on my Mewtwo team.
I'm current hoarding the rest (about 400k) but am tempted to power up a Zapdos after this week is over. I'll also continue to throw dust at my 100 TTar because it is my best mon.
Other than that, I'm waiting for the next big meta shift, whether that is Gen 3, move reshuffles, or new raid bosses worth getting.
Defenders no longer need to be powered up because they aren't sorted by CP. Most attackers don't need to be powered above level 30.
The best reason to hoard stardust right now is to be able to power up raid counters when they are needed.
For example, I have a B/St and a B/C Tyranitar powered up already, which are enough for now, but I have another B/C Tyranitar waiting to power up when Mewtwo becomes available. I have the stardust, but no need to power it up now.
Saving dust for:
- Legendaries (I want at least one of each at L30 or more). Mewtwo will probably get maxed and probably more than one.
- Gen 3
- Pokemon that somehow gain meta relevance.
I currently have 1 million. After thursday I will blow 300k on Lugia, Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno (one of each to L30). Really trying to get a better Articuno and better Lugia before then.
It just depends on how much you play and how hard (easy) stardust is to get for you...For people on Go Plus with tons of spawns and Pokestops on a walk/commute to Japan, they can grind 50k+ a day without even trying...
Also, when Gen 3 comes out or when they raise the Level cap, people may burn through more, but ultimately, I think if you mostly take attackers to Level 30, didn't play the previous gym meta, you are probably sitting on mountains of dust...
I think for the majority of people though, it sounds like most are nearly always out (as witnessed by screenshots posted here all the time) and they probably don't catch enough daily...
I have 700k+ and mostly keep a few maxed (Vap, Blissey, Dnite) while taking things to their raid points as needed (Ttar, Golem)...
If you raid with enough people, you don't need much of anything...Can attack with 6 karps and wait in the lobby on the dominant team and get 9-12 balls as you desire that day.
I'm not a dust hoarder. I burn all my savings when I don't find anything better to do. It's very satisfying to max out any of my usable 93-100% mons. No regrets. But I'm currently trying to save as much as possible to be able to add 1-2 pokemon to my raid team if needed. And towards the legendary birds and mewtwo (if I happen to get one). I'm not so worried about Gen 3, because I will only power up 3 mon of that generation and need to be high IV. But I guess that prepare for exclusive raids, power up legendaries and gen 3 are the main reasons to stock up on stardust
I am also L38 with 2.2m+ stardust.
I have 7 lv40 which was max before gen 2 and this was enough as I have other useable or high CP attackers without spending dust.
Most of the raids I went to has a healthy number of players so I dont need more attackers.
Im currently waiting for the event to end before powering up each legends to lv 30.
Most of the others pokemons I intend to only power up to lv 30.
Saving my dust for mewtwo and also gen 3 or future meta changes
I currently have at least 66 candy for each bird which is enough to get to lv 30, just dumped some rare candy to free up space.
I have the dust to max them but the candy requirement will shoot up high.
I have 430+ candy atm saved for the 3 dogs and ho oh to lv 30.
Im only going to max the mewtwo.
As how I see the current meta as it is, Im splitting my resources to get 2 lv 30 instead of maxing a singular mon
I'm level 36, sitting on 1.5 million stardust.
I've never spent any dust on defenders (except for my two Blisseys) because there was never any reason to. In the old gym system, the rural area I live in was so overwhelmingly red that I'd lose every gym within minutes, no matter what I put in, so powering up defenders was pointless. I usually just tossed in one of my Vaporeons from the army of high-level Eevees I'd caught, then hoped it would last a few minutes. And now powering up defenders is pointless because defending gyms doesn't really matter.
So yeah, the only things ever worth powering up were attackers, and I never really needed all that many of those for clearing gyms. I think I've spent more dust on raid squads than I ever spent on gym fighters, but candy or worthy candidates to power up were always the limitations, not how much dust I had.
Level 37, and have 1.1 saved. Before the gym rework, when I was about level 34, I spent all my dust on defenders. As such, I have a nice collection of level 35.5 Snorlax, Blissey, Vaporean, Rhydon, Dragonite and Gyarados. They will all sit at 35.5 until I have some compelling reason to power them up. Since the rework, I have only spent dust on raid attacking teams, including 5 Ttars over level 33 (for Mewtwo), and some extra Golems. While I have some great birds to power up, the only one I've spent dust on is my Articuno to level 33.5.
I see no reason to max any pokemon presently, other than for fun. The dust savings will go to whatever in the future I may want to power, but right now, I'm going to keep a minumum of 1 million, 400 rare candy, and 100 golden razz. This game brings out the hoarder in all of us.
