The Great "Happy-Trainer" Drought
Ummm... am I one of the very few trainers who play relatively happily without much whining and wishful thinking? I mean, Niantic could be doing a lot better on almost every front, and the game's got more bugs than a swamp on a muggy summer day. But I find myself adjusting to the game state as it continually changes, enjoying daily farming, gym battling and raiding. Sure, i get frustrated at things, and have been drained from prolonged Legendary raids. But i find myself bouncing back pretty quickly, and generally enjoying the now nicely developed F2P mobile game that's pretty great as a Pokemon game in its early stages.
Anybody else feeling similar like this?

Yes, I still love this game. Although I can't participate in t4 and t5 raids, I have accepted that and do what I enjoy: walking, biking, catching (the PoGO Plus is great), gym battling, t1 - t3 raids (no solo t3 success yet, but that's a goal), earning gold badges (8 so far), and reaching the next level (38).
Looking forward to the next surprise/special event, and definitely gen 3.
As a city player with the main problem during raids being how to split the groups to maximise damage balls and team contribution, I, like many others, tend to be happier being in a spot of privilege.
Stardust issues? Have a very solid roster, no need to power up anything.
Rare candy nerfed? Got some of that...not the end of the world
Potions instead of revives? I discard both anyway as there are more pokestops than my bag storage.
TMs not dropping anymore? Big deal...I can wait for a couple of weeks to fix my vileplume to get solar beam instead of petal blizzard...
Those are answers for me, I'm sure it could well be different for different person and their circumstances. There are better things to worry about in life- Employment, education, family, friends. This game has been a big part of my life but I will not let it affect me in a negative way.
This. I could have just given a thumbs up, but I wanted to thank you for your answer.
When the birds came out in raids, it took me SO MANY raids before I finally caught one. I almost felt like quitting. Then I remembered: it's a game. It's supposed to be fun. Sure it can challenge a person, but really if it's just another thing that adds misery to a person's life then what's the point? Games are supposed to lift the spirit, not kill it.
In raids I've seen alot more kids now after the initial legendary hype has settled. Today a 10 year old kid was walking around telling everybody (Donald Trump style) what to use, that you can rejoin if you faint, blissry sucks etc. Cracked me up although the father seemed a bit embarrassed over his kid. I think raids have become more friendly and not as serious.
On forums, well, I don't really care. Internet is what it is.
Like the vote system on gamepress. down vote/up vote. Makes no real sense. Just gets the person with the more uncommon opinion more aggravated
Pretty normal playing, but I do have a tough question I've been mulling and you seem to know your stuff. I caught an 11a/15/15 Staryu level 26, evolved it into a Hidden Power (Psychic)/Hydropump Starmie! I have plenty of candies, so that isn't an issue...should I max it to my level or is the att stat too low?***Edit, thought about it a little more---maybe I will use some of this excess rare candy and power up one of my 91% Lugias, even though its attack stat is noticeably lower than Starmie's.
Yeah, the real purpose of this Starmie is to see how many higher level/higher IV Starmie Hidden Power fast moves I can collect (level 26 91% high enough). So far Dark, Combat, Dragon, and Psychic. A lot of people talk about including "quests" in the game. I'm not exactly sure what a Pokemon quest is--besides collect all the unowns...wow, that seems like a great one.
Finally some sanity after the vile complaints from barrelrider and other cronies! Yes I am a happy trainer. I love the game the way it is. People don't understand or not mature enough to understand that this is not a race to Level 40 but a marathon to gen 7 and beyond. I have been an avid fan of the main series game. I am positive we will play this for a long time in the future. Thank you for this thread good to see that I am not alone.
Just wonder sometimes how can we get rid of the vile comments from the winers!
I still like the game just fine, and I'll probably continue to adapt and enjoy it as it changes. Raids are fun, and I like the lower-stress, more emphasis on fun gym meta.
The only aspect about it that really is not fun is the need to continually grind garbage mons (sentrets, rats, spinaraks, etc.) to accumulate a decent daily total of stardust. This in turn leads to mindlessly spinning pokestops ad infinitum to replace pokeballs, disposing of excess potions and revives, and spinning more pokestops, so I can grind more sentrets and spinaraks. That aspect of the game is just not very enjoyable.
I keep playing everday, even though Niantic keeps pissing me off. Pissed about raid reward nerfs, pissed that my plus has been completely non-functional since my phone forced an OS update (sent a complaint message as a formality, and they had the gall to message back asking if their customer service was good when they literally did and said nothing to even try to help), pissed that the game runs like molasses on dial-up since the latest game update.
Still, I go out every day to farm for dust, walk my eggs and buddy, do one raid, and make sure I'm on several gyms. Not a happy player, but a dedicated one.
The fact so many people are still enjoying this game despite the many, many bad decisions by Niantic is testimony to the strength of it going forward. I think we have only scratched the surface of the games potential and I just hope they can deliver over the coming months/years & match all our expectations. They will never keep everyone happy, but there is nothing like it out there at the moment & I for one will be in it for the long haul.
