Some areas haven't found enough raiders at the same place at the same time, so they might not have as many Tyranitars to safely defeat it. Big cities shouldn't mold the way the game is played. However, if it is presented as a bigger event and notifications granted, maybe smaller places can gather enough trainers to still defeat it. I think it would be awesome for some players that were unable to get a bird, to beyond all odds get some throws at Mewtwo
Mewtwo Nerf
Anyone else disappointed about Niantic cutting off a large chunk of Mewtwo's stats? Contrary to popular belief, I just think it was unnecessary to bring it down from a whopping max 4760 CP to a max 3982 CP; there was no reason to do this. Legendaries are not even allowed to defend gyms, anyway, so how would having Mewtwo's original CP change the current meta in any negative fashion? It just doesn't really make sense to me. With this parameter, nerfing Mewtwo doesn't really change the game in a positive or negative way, it just makes Mewtwo alone worse, which is really dumb since Mewtwo is supposed to be extremely powerful. It's freaking Mewtwo, for crying out loud!
Considering Mewtwo is unquestionably my favorite Pokemon, I was beyond excited when Niantic announced Mewtwo's soon-to-be release. I couldn't wait to fight gyms with a 4500+ CP Mewtwo, that would've been awesome. Now, with Niantic giving Mewtwo the nerf hammer, I'm not so excited about Mewtwo anymore (and the game overall). It just feels... incomplete, for lack of a better word. Just my two cents on the matter, though. Let's see what they do to Ho-oh when it is released.

Maybe a little disappointed, but I understand the reasoning. Unless everyone is limited to only one Mewtwo (which I would be fine with), there are going to be people with an army of them, and they would just roll like tanks over every defender.
At least until the release of Ho-oh, Mewtwo will still be the most powerful pokemon by far, but just not quite as single-handedly dominant as he would have been.
I'm actually more disappointed that they nerfed Mew's defense a while back (Mew being unquestionably MY favorite pokemon).
Yeah boi Mew is the bomb, move aside Mewtwo and gimme my Mew lol.
Did Mew's defense actually get nerfed or was it just the change in base attack and defense formulae? Having 100 of each stat is unfairly converted into pogo stats imo. She should be buffed. 220 each stat at least.
Also I would have liked a limit on how many Mewtwo each player can have (with his original stats). Two would work, that way you can always keep your highest IV whilst trying to get more. The notion of people having a Mewtwo army is just shitty.
I hear you but would get pretty lame if your attacking lineup was 6 mewtwos all the time...feel they would be worried about game going stale if that was the case....matchups wouldn't be as much of a factor or any kind of thinking on the trainers part for that matter...would make some specialist Pokémon none factors...this way you still have 50 useable Pokémon types as opposed to 5
Unfortunately, this problem won't be solved by just slamming Mewtwo alone with the nerf hammer and leaving every other Pokémon untouched. Gen 3 is potentially around the corner, and the three big legendaries of Gen 3 go above 4000 CP. Groudon and Kyogre are both 100 CP above Mewtwo's pre-nerf max CP (I don't even wanna start with Slaking lol). If Niantic leaves Ho-oh untouched, then I'm calling bs, wouldn't be fair to leave every other legendary untouched, but cut off Mewtwo's stats alone. People will just do the same and have six Groudon, six Kyogre, or six Rayquaza as their team to fight gyms, you know?
I am pretty pissed off that they did this, they basically took it's godly powerful 156 sp att and knocked it down to 140 which is still really good, but it is definitely not on par with the other top tier legendaries. There were other ways Niantic could have gone about with nerfing Mewtwo and they just took a very poor decision.
I was also quite upset in the beginning, because like you have said, its mewtwo and being powerful is all what mewtwo does. But on the other hand, even though mewtwo isn't allowed to be put in gyms, it would effect the game experiences for many. Because of its high attack, stamina and defense states, its basically the top one choise for any kind of battle. It will make a lot other mons inferior compared to. And this is not good at all. I personally would be much happier, if Niantic readjusted the powers between pokemons, and make them more equaly powerful, maybe with only minor differences, so we can have a much broader choise of what we can choose as gym attacker and defender. For now, many pokemons are just dex fillers and this is a total wast of resource. Why not make Butterfree powerful, so we can have some different matchups other than only dragonite, ttars or any of the top attackers right now?
