Advice for this Victreebel?(photo)
It's level 26 I think. For an attacker. Is it worth spending 40k dust to get it to approximately 1900+ CP? I'm thinking of keeping it as is.
I've been powering up hardly anything lately as I figure it's not necessary I n most cases. As a result, I'm no longer dust-broke. Waiting to power up only a select few. Even if it had solar beam I don't think I'd need to power it up.
Advice?
For those that can't see pic:
It's 1655cp , 12/13/15 89% with Razor Leaf/Leaf Blade. Level 26 I think. I am lvl 30.

It's worth powering but like you said it's unnecessary at the moment because it'll already take on Vaporeons as it is.
If attacking gets more difficult, then it wouldn't be a waste of stardust to power it up would be a better way to put it.
Really good IVs and arguably the best move set for those that want more HP efficiency rather than pure DPS. Leaf Blade is close enough to Solar Beam in DPS but you'll take less damage from dodging attacks after using it. The difference between a 45/45 IV and this one is negligible, so there's not much point in waiting for one with better IVs, since you'll still need to get a good moveset, which is 1/6 or 1/3 depending on your personal opinion of Solar Beam.
That doesn't mean much since Victreebels were primarily attackers anyway, and they're still good at what they were previously, destroying Vaporeons, and now also Golems / Rhydons.
It's just dependent on what you already have, and what other people in your area are using. The 4 double-grass move attackers (Victreebel, Venusaur, Vileplume and now Tangela) are all close enough in effectiveness as attackers that it just comes down to whether there are enough people using the Pokemon that they counter, and whichever is easier to acquire.
Like if you live near a Bulbasaur nest, then yeah why bother powering up this one when you could get a Venusaur instead, since Venusaur's quick move is guaranteed to be grass type, but if Bellsprouts or Oddishes are common, then having a Vileplume / Victreebel is going to be just as effective as an attacker, with the right moveset.
This CP update was overblown, people are acting like certain Pokemon are now completely unviable that you may as well be using Weedles in combat instead. The biggest changes were buffs, not nerfs.
Agree completely as it relates to attackers, but not to defenders. The biggest change in this update IMO involved crushing the usefulness of a few very strong defenders (who, incidentally, I had happened to spend a lot of dust on)
Namely guys like Slowbro and Poliwrath. How am I supposed to use them now when at level 40 with 100% IV's they have lower CP than a random IV lvl 30 Gyarados/Vaporeon picked from a hat? Literally, find a 20% lvl 30 Magikarp,l evolve it, and it has higher CP than the best Poliwrath in the game will.
So, yes - at least with regards to gym defenders, certain Pokemon are now completely unusable. I wasted a ton of resources leveling them up from level 20 to 35. I don't even want to think about the fact for Poli I did it with more than one moveset.
This is where I hope they change gym defenders to just use pokemon level instead. Especially IF the level cap is raised, not everyone will want to power things past level 30 so if you, say love Jigglypuff, you can level that to level 40, 50, whatever...and it can sit atop of a gym.
That's my hope at least...
My maxed out Lapras is now worst than every Rhydon/Vap out there so it's pretty sad to only use CP to rank gym defenders.
Don't power up attackers!! that Victribell can take down 2.5k waters no problem, when you attack, you can choose the matchup, therefor you don't need an attacker that is maxed out. On the other hand defenders are much more affected by level/CP, as it determines what place they get in the gym and how long they stay in it as a result, those you should power up.
Nope, I've been telling snitches since day one - if you need attacker depth just evolve whatever junk level 30's you find with mediocre IV's. Save your dust for defenders b/c you'll need every CP you can get.
For example, you think the defending Vaporeons care that my 1950 Venusaur with Vine Whip/Solar has 33% IV's and I never spent a single dust on him while they're being curb-stomped? Hell naw.
The difference when you're attacking is barely noticeable.
The only attackers I powered up hit the PoGo Trifecta - best in their type, best moveset, and high IV's. A Hydro Pump Vape, Solar Beam Exeggutor, Dragon Breath/Claw Dragonite, Pound/Hyper Wiggly, Lick/Hyper Snorlax, etc.
If you don't already have a good grass pokemon, I wouldn't hesitate to power that one up - it has good IVs and a killer moveset! Then again, I seem to go against the flow of most people here since I power up all of my best attackers to lvl 30 (I don't care what you say - there is a noticable difference between an 1800 CP Victreebel and a 2000 CP Victreebel). I also hate dodging - gym battles take too long as it is now even without swiping left all the time. It's all about your play style. If powering up this mon would make your life easier, then go for it!
