What are the odds of catching a legendary bird?
With Golden Ras, excellent catch, gold medals in typing, and curve?

I'm not nearly as accurate on excellent throws. 90% of the time I go for great curves instead. I probably average about 11 balls from raids. Drop the last ball and I have 10 legit balls to throw. Out of the 10 I probably hit 7-8 times on great curves. Miss 1 or two on target and maybe 1 excellent curve. I'm 18/23 on Zapdos - 78.26% catch rate.
7 raids is probably too small of a sample. The odds will catch up as you do more Zapdos raids and you should be well over 80% maybe close to 90%.
I noticed that using Golden Razz makes a significant difference in practice. But I rather save them for Mewtwo or for gym control than the birds for now. My percentage is also lower because I let others throw on my phone while I try to catch their legendary (say it's their first legendary to catch).
You're on a good percentage! I'm not intending to power up any of the birds released so far, so I don't really mind. I'm more happy if I can catch for others than myself.
I don't curve, or try for excellent. I'm happy with a straight ball great hit with a Golden Raz. I've gotten 2 Lugia out of 10, 4 zapdos out of 7, 2 articuno out of 8, and 3 moltres out of 9. I think the catch rate is pretty decent considering. I feel for you who can't get them after all that effort.
It's totally random. Seen players get really lucky and catch them 1st try with a Nab Nab Berry with no throw bonuses, while others with better accuracy and throw bonuses still flee.
I'm at 8/13 for Lugia, 4/7 for Articuno and 2/5 for Moltres. I'm 100% for Zapdos so far. Haven't changed the way I throw on any of them. All just RNG.
Today for Zapdos, I got 6 balls, due to greasy hands, my first 4 spin balls did not even reach the bird, then I just throw a straight ball and it caught it!
Another Moltres, after a couple of curves, then a straight ball actually caught it!
Then another Zapdos, my first nanaberry ball caught it!
It is quite crazy today with all kind of catches!
Seeing that graphic of legendary catch probability messed me up. I expected 20% or so on golden curved great throws, then for over 30 such throws I didn't catch a single one. Days without a catch.
Be nice if Niantic programmed something like 5% bonus for every consecutive golden great curve you throw. And if you throw 5 strait excellent? 100% (it's damn hard)
