What to do after the raid reward nerfs?
Rare candy nerfs I understand, but even gold berries... I raided solely for the candies and berries. No point raiding for me anymore, I dont need the mons, I dont need the potions, I dont need the tm's, I'd rather save my passes.
Gyms became a joke after the rework, but we adapted. Remote gold berry feeding was actually quite fun (I might be slightly evil person).
Gold berry feeding is out of the question after the drop rate nerf, so gyms are not worth the time anymore (if they ever were).
Not really whining, Im seriously looking for reasons to play this game right now. I could go back to grind dust to buff up my sixth Blissey to get rekt by motivation decay again...?
I really want to grab my phone and go out and play, but everything seems like a waste of time right now.
Mewtwo; not interested, invitation system is a joke.

People don't stop raiding because of the nerf.
They do because they went overboard spending time, money, steps, etc to achieve in a very short time what they might have achieved in just a slightly longer period. So we get tired and bored because we aren't able to distribute or manage the hype. We achieved everything possible, so it's not so interesting anymore.
So, what's left is preparing for the excitement to come. Those who embrace it, will continue to have fun. The others may prefer to enjoy a break.
My best advice to everyone and I am doing the same in my town is to report to Niantic the nerf, let them know in a polite manner that you will stop spending money and premium pases until this gets fixed, raids are the current end game and there is no way a legendary should give those rewards. I have just done a Moltres raid, got 10 super potions, 10 hyperpotions, 5 revives. No TM, no rare candies, no goldenrazz, no way I am gonna spend a single premium pass until they fix this, and I have 20 saved and I was willing to buy another box before they remove them, but for now, reporting and waiting is the best you can do if you really want the normal rewards back.
Niantic will only see reports and their ingame shop decrease, if we manage to do it they will have to give it back, so please, if you are really worried about this, stop using and spending premium passes for a day or two, it could make a huge difference.
But your chances of getting a mewtwo invite won't be so good in two weeks time ;)
I've completed a relatively modest 50 legendary raids altogether. I have lots and lots of TM's and i was having to spend some rare candies just to free up space in my item bag.
So i can see that the rewards were a bit excessive. I prefer a challenge but that's just me.
Everyone that has used at least their free raid pass each day will get a mewtwo invite, time will give me the reason. Niantic won't risk the hate of the player base that has come back exclusively to do legendary raids during this hole month, the people that are on vacation and they are trying to hold at any cost so they keep playing the game when the holidays are ended.
The note they released is too vague, they wanted to create hype and a lot of players I think have fear to miss mewtwo and they are taking advantage of that. They nerf the rewards because people will keep spending in order to get a mewtwo invite. But the truth is that anyone that has played during this month everyday, even doing a single magikarp raid, will get that invite, trust me, don't panic and start doing 20 raids per day like crazy, don't give them more money because they don't deserve it.
This is just my opinion, but if you really want the normal rewards back, don't use premium passes for a couple of days, 2 days won't hurt anyone and we gonna send them a message for sure.
Rewards were not excessive in anyway, maxing any legendary costs more than 200 candies, you had to do around 30/40+ raids to get to that number. That is more than a month for a free to play player or 30+€/$ for a paying player. Plus you still need to farm the dust to level them up, candies alone don't matter. So for me the rewards were not excessive at all.
from my 50 legendary raids (plus some tyranitars etc) i got about 500 candies.. either you've been very unlucky or your numbers are off ;)
Legendaries are supposed to be legendary, if you can power up 6 zapdos' or 6 mewtwos they aren't so legendary anymore. I've gained enough candies so far to power up one of each bird. I think some players who are complaining about this nerf have wasted candies getting a amphorus or something. That's their problem ;)
As for mewtwo i agree the vagueness was designed to make people spend more passes. Niantic are a business.
You are off if you think you can compare to everyone else just because you have done 50 legendary raids man. Are you serious? Most players believe or not don't put money into the game every week just to do 3+raids per day.
Just because you are a paying player you don't have the right to say that loot is excessive. You should be a little more considerate with the rest of the players.
I know plenty of people who have done more raids than me. So my 50 raids isn't an unrealistic number.
If players don't play so much they won't earn so many rewards. That's the case with every single CCG etc. You're saying you expect great rewards for not playing so much. It doesn't work like that.
I don't really sympathize with you at all, it's your choice how much you play but don't expect the same prizes as people who do play more.
I am with you. I have already got to level40 and was in maintenance mode until raids came along. Started to play actively again (though it pales in comparison to how I used to play a year ago) then recently the novelty of raids is wearing off. Like you, I also don't care much about the gym (not worth the time for it as its really a joke). Getting an invite to mewtwo raid will be nice but its no big loss even if I don't receive it. I now just do raids every 2 days (so I can use both daily free raid pass on the same day) but see myself completely not doing that in about a month or so. The above is just how I feel about this game and in no way reflects how this game is in general for other players
I'm only level 34.5, but my motivation to play this game has be m going down faster than any Blissey. I don't even use my free pass on some days.
The main thing that keeps me playing now is building an army to solo tier 3 raids. That's why I was totally outraged when the raids became harder, and tier 3s became impossible to solo. Luckily it turned out to be just a bug that was quickly fixed.
Catching my first legendaries was neat.
The soloing of multiple mons of differing difficulty across all movesets is a ton of fun. And it is still fun every time.
I do wish there was a badge or some way to track these accomplishments for me. Funniest thing is I think that this fun excersize of solo'ing 3*s was somewhat unintended.
I'm a casual player, though I do care about movesets.. I've never spent a single cent on this game, and never will. I've missed 3 free raid passes, and I don't even care.
I raid whatever I feel like raiding. Once, I chose to raid Machamp over Articuno, and another day, Exeggutor over a Zapdos.
I'm not interested in Mewtwo. My main goal now is to solo Alakazam.
Well, you contribute quite a bit here. Which is good for the rest of us. I wouldn't say you look like a casual player. But a trend that I noted on my own activity is that I spend more time checking websites when feel bored of the lack of excitement/content in the game. But these are normal periods for every player, no matter how we define ourselves.
We all need to find our goals to keep enjoying the game
I suppose only thing I could add is people should be careful what they ask for...A lot of people were complaining not having enough potions and lo and behold, potions were added and other raid perks were nerfed because potions use up some of the reward boxes possible (check SR research)...
Honestly, I feel revives/potions shouldn't even be in the bonuses since you get them from spinning...It's a total waste and I was constantly dumping revives...
I just hope they change it where the potions only takes from the revive pool so you can at most, say get 1 "box" of potions or revives and that's it...
Obviously they are intending to send a message, maybe that they have the power? No reasonable person or group does a complete unannounced u-turn. To me that message is "spend $5-10 a day raiding or else you're not going to be in the Mewtwo club". If we (major damage contributors) averaged 4 rare candy per raid and 5 golden razz and 0.5 TMs per tier 5 (for carrying a raiding group) we would likely accept it w/o many complaining more than a few days about the change
I agree with the original poster 100%. Niantic is using basic mass marketing tactics, I'm not going to go out of my way to help a nearby raid group, to be nice to them. I have enough of each and I would rather not contribute to their business approach--just do things straightforward. If straightforward is too difficult, at least add some gradual shifts so I can go along with their business' plan (I'm not fooled, sounds like you aren't either)
I was looking forward to raids today. I'll still try it and see how bad the nerf is. May call it a day sooner and wait till things sort themselves out. I'm sure they will if they notice changes in playing. They probably can't change it back without admitting they were wrong but they'll find some way to make players ok with it
I'd like to get a mewtwo but If getting one turns out to be as difficult as it sounds I'm ok without it. I'd hope that eventually Niantic will make it more available to more casual players.
I have to say that i do agree with the rare candy nerfs, it was getting ridiculous. For example, farted a 3k Blissey without having a single Chansey candy (had to make bag space), maxed a 98% Lugia the day i caught it... If i had 4 hours a day to play, it would have been stupid to do anything else but raid.
The Golden Berry nerf was too much, it destroyed already shitty gym mechanic. They could just make all raids free now, the rewards are not worth a premium pass.
As to your question, that's honestly tough, and I unhelpfully say it's up to you to decide. I'm not as dismissive of TMs as the OP, since even though gyms have been trivialized I wouldn't mind being able to give all my best defenders and attackers optimal movesets, but still I personally am at the point where I will not use any premium passes at all. I still use my free pass everyday if I have the time, but since I finally earned at least one of every bird I don't feel motivated to do more than that, even if people in the one raid I do attempt want help with another down the road. Since stardust was removed as a gym reward I've put extra effort into farming trash pokes to make up for those losses, and thus I have never found myself in a situation where I am in need of healing items, even before I have never been lacking for healing. Niantic added potions to the rewards due to the people who buy many premium passes and do multiple raids one after the other, but who couldn't be bothered to spin a few stops between raids or hold on to a few revives and hyper potions or just max revives. It's an understandable step on Niantic's part, those players are the ones spending the bulk of the money, so if they complain about something they are the one's most likely to be listened to. But for someone like myself who frankly barely even cares about getting an extra (not even that useful) legendary bird, taking the time to challenge the tanky Lugia (or even the laughably easy Moltres) and being rewarded with only revives and potions is not a good time. I would understand if they increased revive and hyper potion rewards only (if someone is doing multiple legendary raids while under level 15, they probably should just go catch a bit more, cuz their dex is likely not very full), but when my only reward is items I'm perfectly capable of obtaining for free, and my personal capture success on legendaries is less than 1/10, attempted over 50 caught only 5, it's definitely not an incentive to raid more often.
