So what?

How that player experiences the game has little to no impact on how you experience the game. If you decide to be salty about them playing the game by the rules that's on you.

What if that person worked hard to assemble a team JUST to solo that Muk? That's a great accomplishment for them and has nothing to do with you. Maybe they jumped in on a raid with a friend and had a nice time together taking it down. That's cool. Either way, the time it took you to get a Muk has nothing to do with them or anyone else, really. Quite frankly, the fact that you're annoyed by someone getting a Muk at this point in the game's existence is laughable.

Is it "fair" that they can have a level 20 Muk at level 16? Maybe not. But what difference does that really make? They'll have to gain 3 levels just to power it up once. Again, it has little to no impact on you.

It's a game that's meant to be played for fun. There's no true end goal or way to "win," so it's all about achieving personal goals and having fun. If it's not fun for you to watch other people have a good time — especially while they gain no advantage over you — maybe this isn't the game for you.

You gotta give it to the level 16 though, it actually takes that gym seriously if it puts one of it's best mons in there as well. I like them already. lol

I am happy a level 20 player has a Muk, but not sure what the point of this post is.

I thought we were past the point of being unreasonably upset by the idea that newer/casual players were allowed to get good pokemon.

Nah. The Salt Must Flow! I grinded for 6 months to get enough candy to evolve a Tyranitar, I MUST scream that some piddly little Level 5 (theoretically) trainer can simply CATCH their first Tyranitar that is LEVEL 20!! MRRRAAWWWWW!!!!!

(seriously tho, I am a bit annoyed that I spent all that candy evolving a single T-Tar because I got lucky and hatched a Larvitar, and now I can just try to catch a T-Tar at Level 20 from a Raid, saving 123 (aka 615 km of walking) candies. Like... ARGH! I'm not mad at the new players, I'm annoyed with Niantic over it.)

I still don't have a single T-Tar, working on rare candying a really good larvitar I hatched right now. There aren't really enough people playing in my area that Level 4+ raids happen often.

Haha I had a similar experience with my Machamp. Grinded for a long time getting candies since they're rare near me. Got lucky and found a nest that I hit as often as possible for a week. Still, my best was still only 80% IVs (15 Att).

When the nest disappeared, I decided to evolve that 80% Machop all the way up since prior experience said I wouldn't get many more Machops. Shortly after, Machamp became super useful as a Blissey counter and I maxed my one out thanks to a bunch of walking and couple lucky hatches (though both hatches were unluckily under 80%). Since then, my Machamp has joined my group of "Ride or dies," which are Mons I will power up to max every time I level up.

Then raids came out with my 80% Machamp powered up over 2500 CP and still my best Machamp. I've done 2 Machamp raids since and both catches have been under 80%. I guess it's somewhat annoying that a lot of people got their Machamps easier than I did (and probably with better IVs), but mine rips Blisseys and Ttars to shreds. I could have stopped powering it up and focused on getting a new one, but he's one of my Ride or Dies, baby. Continuing to pour dust into him may not make sense, but it makes me happy.

Compared to FandangoGhandi's case you've used your machamp for half a year before it became available via raids.
But he evolved his ttar just before raids introduction.

You've raised an interesting question, but probably not the one you intended. My assumption was that, as with hatches, a raid boss pokemon could not exceed the level of the trainer (i.e. a level 20 or higher player gets a level 20 mon; a level 16 player gets a level 16 mon). But the max CP for a level 17.5 Muk (max for a level 16 player, powered up three times from level 16, IV's of 15/15/15) is only 1354.

However, the minimum CP for a level 20 raid boss Muk (IV's of 10/10/10) is 1474.

So, it appears to me that this Muk is somewhere between level 17.5 and level 20. Does anyone have an explanation for this?

I was actually just running the numbers trying to figure that out myself. I don't know the answer, but I'm intrigued.

I didn't think they did. The issue here, though, is that according to this site's calculator a 10/10/10 Muk from a raid (presumably the lowest possible IVs for a raid catch) would be 1474 CP.

The Muk pictured is 1447 CP. It doesn't add up.

It's a L20 Muk with what I'm guessing are really poor IVs and the CP has decayed ~40, yet the heart icon remains visibly "full".

Maybe that will make OP less salty.

This explanation makes sense. Hadn't thought of decay considering the bar looks full, but that's certainly got to be it.

My 32 month old son is a champ at Pokemon, @level 12 he can take down your level 35 Snorlax (when at 500cp). He is better at catching Rattatas, Pidgeys, and Spinaraks than me--I just have to throw them away as soon as he gets them, he'll max the S*** out of those. He is sitting on 13k stardust

Legit have seen two sets of parents bring their kids into raid battles that are level 30+. Coolest parents and kids i've ever seen. lol

I understand the feeling. It's not blaming the player. It's just the new raid system has taken a lot of the fun out of playing. I never saw a Grimer, less hatched one. After almost one year I came close to 50 candies, hatched a Grimer and evolved my first Muk and completed gen1 (except the obvious ones). Next week they released Muk in raids...

That's definitely annoying but at the same time, isn't it at least partially about the journey? You set a goal and attained it. That's a better story than hitting a raid and catching a Muk. I know I was more excited to finally evolve a Muk (it took me a long time, too) than my wife was to get her first one from a raid. The Dex entry is the same but the experience is unique.

Also, I think the raid system has made the game a lot more fun for me, though I recognize that my experience isn't the same as everyone else's. Instead of grinding buddy distances for certain Pokemon, I can work with people in the local Discord group I joined and we can catch them together. If I have time to burn, I can go for a walk, get buddy distance, hatch eggs, catch Mons and if I have a raid pass to burn I can do it solo or with others (usually from the Discord, but sometimes I find random people). It's a new option for how to play and it's totally voluntary to participate (or not), at least outside of the legendaries, which I understand is a whole other issue for people who may not have many gyms or other players in their local area.

The raid system isn't perfect, but so far it has been a net positive for me individually.

That's just how the game is now...I walked my Grimer during Halloween to get enough candies to evolve Muk. Eventually, Niantic will give everyone everything I feel. No need to grind, walk, etc...IMO.

I think the key is just to not care honestly...It's a casual mobile game....Remember that. We keep hashing out hate/dislikes and ultimately, it just pisses yourself off so play like me...

Just don't care what people have...Play if you enjoy it, stop if you don't...No one cares if you are salty. I still play since I'm "casual".

I got my first Tyranitar at level 35 was it? I DID have near 600 candies before EVOLVING one...Got Dnite at 34?

Saw a lot of downvotes on Nick's latest vid...

I suppose some people feel they NEED to complete the dex and it's not fair and all that...I suppose after watching the vid yesterday, I didn't get upset at all...I'm 38+ now and "only" have 231/242...Still no Gyarados because I am an IV snob and don't want to evolve random sub 90% fishys. Was also too lazy to DRIVE to catch Porygon during Valentines event.

I'm OK WITH THAT...Doesn't really matter. Let people have their fun and have your own fun...

You're so right. I could get frustrated because t4 and especially t5 raids are very unlikely to happen for me (with enough players, that is) but I had to get over it. At level 37, have only 2 Tyranitar, but I walked/ evolved them and they mean a lot. Raid boss catches? Not so much. So I focus on my personal in game goals and try not to let the things I can't accomplish get to me. Not always successfully, I admit

Still love the game, though. Never exercised so much, it's never been so much fun. I also enjoy the gym battles/raids I can do. And that's enough right now.
