Best counters vs. Mewtwo with Focus Blast

Let the rampant speculation begin!

So clearly, in general, Tyranitar is the supreme counter to Mewtwo. However, against FB, it doesn't feel like he'll stick around very long. So, against FB, which counter(s) would be best (assume level 30, ideal moves)?

Tyranitar Scizor Pinsir Dragonite Moltres Zapdos Gyrados (B/C) Others I forgot?

Focus blast is a very dodgable move if glitches aren't that much of an issue for you. I will likely still use Tyranitar even if Mewtwo has FB.

I think the real problem will be if he has confusion regardless of the charge move. So if it has confusion it's hard to go with a mon that doesn't resist that fast move. That really limits the list of alternate mons.

I'm getting dodge glitch 50% of the time.
Also, a very annoying trend I'm seeing with players here is using dodge glitched Pokemon to tank damage, without dealing any damage.

Also use the strategy of fighting with four first and come back with full six. But we should at least fit two or three charge attack before faint.

A 30 second look at Pokebattler told me Alakazam with Confusion/Shadowball is more than viable if already at a high level--surprisingly survives

Gyrados > Dragonite > Pinsir.

I'm likely taking 5 ttars and a scizor regardless of move set.

I just caught Tyranitar number 7--might take 8 against FB;) 2065cp. 1st ball, 100f and barely had to sweat. Get 'em before they're gone!

what about exeggutor with double grass?

doesn't get SE but hits pretty hard anyway and resists both confusion and focus blast.

Or even double water slowbro I was thinking, if one doesn't have a good eggy. Less DPS but will keep you in the fight if you are really out of options.

If it has confusion/focus blast I really have no idea. Gyarados and Tyranitar are clearly the best options, but Gyarados does not resist confusion (which still wrecks face) and Tyranitar is going to get completely destroyed with FB (a guarantee given the dodge bug)

Maybe Alk with Confusion/Shadow ball is actually a good choice.

If you're using Alakazam against Mewtwo, you will need Psycho Cut for the fast energy gain, not Confusion.
Don't forget psychic is NVE to itself.

MewTwo with shadow ball could be the best one really.

Great point, and that is quite a bellringer--an option to use your TMs to optimize your Mewtwo for every battle=more Mewtwos

Pinsir should be above Scizor because of resistance to Focus Blast.

These are according to pokebattler with no dodging setting and attackers at level 32.5

Bad news to all those Blissey/Snorlax leech

If they didn't give him Focus Blast, they wouldn't need to nerf him. It's just dumb.

I'd wager that the nerf has nothing to do with being able to beat a Mewtwo Raid and everything to do with using Mewtwo as an attacker on your team.

I will use all blisseys. Let others finish it off for me. Hehe

And you get 5 balls and have a horrible catch rate. You'll wish you got 14 balls when that perfect Mewtwo runs on your fifth ball.

It was just a joke. I know how this game works and always against selfish blissey-user idiots who just concern their own asses.
Do I have to use blisseys? Lol I play for kicking asses. Not chicken out,

Arcanine and Feraligatr can both learn dark fast and charge moves, and won't be weak to Focus Blast or Psychic moves. They might be worth having in the mix. Scyther with a bug moveset could be an interesting low-tier option as well. It's weaker than Scizor, but whereas Scizor's Steel/Bug typing will cancel each other out against Focus Blast, Scyther's Flying/Bug type will be double-resistant to it.

What about a Lugia with Dragon Tail / Sky Attack? It resists psychic attacks and double resists Focus Blast. Not the greatest attack (not "super-effective"), but should be tanky.

Dear All,

I am planning for my team for Mewtwo with Focus Blast. I have three maxed out Gyarados (B/C) and not sure the other three.

Should I use Lugia, Groudon, Ho-Oh or Dragonite?

Kindly advice
