Lucky Egg and Event Double Xp question.

I got to thinking. Evolving is 500xp but with lucky egg it's 1,000 xp. So does that mean if they do a double xp event and you use a lucky egg, then an evolve would be 2,000 xp ? If so would it be worth it to stock pile candies and coins, then when they do the event run as many luck eggs as possible and grind out the evolutions? I'm currently almost level 31 so I'm sure leveling up from here will be pretty slow and I'm not in a hurry. But by using this method I could see gaining a ton of xp and moving up a lot in the time of the event.

Yes, currently the only two events where this happened were the easter event and the go fest/ anniversary event.

Yes, evolving during 2x exp with egg is 2000 xp; you should do that whenever possible - though storing up pokemon to evolve is a pain; I never store up more than 1 egg of pokemon to evolve.
Niantic is aware that this is sort of thing makes lucky egg evo runs a lot better; that's why they do things like the triple-exp-catch event, instead of double exp.

Thanks, it is a pain to save for a full egg evo spree. I've done it twice with about 60 ish evolves each time I think. I guess I need to transfer a bunch or upgrade my storage. I only have 10 saved up because I have no room. But I've got enough various candies to evolve about 70 to 80, mostly pidgys

Just save the candies for now. If it gets close to a holiday/rumored event then start saving the pokes to evolve. You can get enough for a lucky egg session in a good afternoon.

I have over 4k pidgey candy, missed double xp 2 times because of lack of pokemons to evolve :/ (I was thinking that events finishes later and want to catch some more pidgeys)
So now I'm going to clear pokemon storage and keep few hundreds till next double xp

Yeah, that awesome, now I only use lucky eggs during double xp, I've skipped lvl31 or 32 during event.

Yes, you can gain exp very quickly this way...I got over 1.6+ million exp from evolve parties during anniversary bonus week. It's boring though so I tend to watch a show or something while I do it...

This means saving pretty much enough mons to evolve based on number of candies and even then, with double candies/transfers, etc...I didn't have enough pidgeys to evolve all my candies...My strategy is to not save stuff that is common in my biome so I can get those during the event.

Since I have trashed near all my prestigers now, I have more space to do this again probably sometime in the next 6 months...

Why do I level? (38+), it's something to do in the game and getting to 40 is a goal like any other...
