Catching that fried chicken!!!

Can someone who has multiple Moltres give me tips for catching this beast?
I have 1 from 14 raids and it is driving me insane.
I can hit great curveball throws or just standard curveball throws but none seem to stick.
Am i just really really unlucky?

Update: I am now 1/16 and have errored on the last two raids. New phone so that's not the problem. I have sent niantic a message because I cannot believe 15 raids have failed catch attempts. Really not happy

You are unlucky that's all. I was unlucky first day of Articuno/Lugia legendary, then I was a little bit better. Now I got 4/5 moltress and my friends 7/8.. is not that hard as before. You are very unlucky unfortunately =/

ps: My throws are a little bit better now. Most of the times I have 10-11 balls. At most I fail 1 or 2 if the bird double attack me. Then I enter 8-9 balls and I try to put Nice or Great ball. Not excellent.

  1. feed 1 nanaberry (you wont catch him but calms it the fuck down)
  2. feed goldens the rest of the way
  3. curve ball, great+

works everytime and usually catches on the third throw

I saw a post on the silph road about a guy who analyzed the use of nanab berries and discovered that through his limited trials, there was a (albeit possibly insignificant due to a small sample size) correlation between using a nanab berry on the first ball and a "hangover" effect on subsequent balls where the user used golden razz on subsequent ones

Go google on YouTube the nanab berry trick. I was about to try it out just now but I accidentally caught it before I could complete the process. Hahaha

For the first time since I play PoGo, I asked someone else to catch by Pokemon. I only caught one by myself; my other 4 have been caught by a Raid partner who had a very lucky hand even though he didn't even curve.

I should stop aiming for excellent with Moltres I guess

Yeah, it'd be nice if there can be proof of the Nanab thing...

I tend to get Great/Curved every time now on Articuno/Moltres and am not sure if it's worth using a Nanab at all since Golden is greater +% chance and I'm not worried about missing/getting batted away balls.

100% agreed. That nanab shit is BS. Total waste of ball and berry. I don't want need the fucker to calm down. I like it spazzing out so I can time my great curve accurately and don't have to sit there waiting for the bird to attack.

I had a dry spell of around 40-50 balls on legendaries (Lugia, Articuno, Moltres). All of them with golden razzies. All of them hits (I don't count misses). All of them curveballs. Most of them great throws or nice throws, with a few excellents here and there. Always broke out. But then I got two Moltres in a row and now I'm feeling better.

RNG is cruel. The best we can do is just keep throwing good shots.

Yes it's hard
Last one I tried I had 9 balls, got 8 great curved throws and didn't catch it

Be patient. DO NOT WASTE BALLS on air balls or bounce offs. I only throw great curves once I choose the circle size using the trick. Also, I only throw during attack animation and also when the BBQ chicken is on the bottom of the screen. I'm 16/21 doing this. 76% catch rate.
