Sometime during the night I became the proud owner of a gold badge, my first one, obtained from the Gym nearest my house.

The gym rework found me taking an early vacation -in 10 days I only collected silver badges. Then I spent two weeks in my old hometown, where I almost reached gold status. From July 19 I returned to where I live now.

It took me 14-15 days to reach gold. I defended the gym for 12 days (0h and 23m), won 88 victories, fed 148 berries and participated in some 9 or 10 raids.

I grabbed this quote from a different pokemon site, who have information I sometmes find dubious.

"Through my research the only sure way to guarantee you unlock your Gold badge is to defend a gym for 16 days. "

Well, 16 days are not enough if you do nothing else than defending. They would give you 23040 points.

Isn't the defending bonus dependent on defender cp's? Or all defenders get the same amount of gym points?

I also got my first Gold gym badge and use it as my first spin every day for the bonus. I was wondering though, is there now any advantage to having more than one Gold gym, other than having a variety to choose from for first spin of the day?

I am trying for a collection of 5 gyms all in a row, along a regular path. This way, as I walk I can get 'gold gym' bonus on every spin as I walk the route.
If they are used regularly then this could be quite a decent bonus.

So I see your golden badge gym exp points come from defending mostly.
One of mine is an entirely different story.

Very nice. I don't have any gold gyms yet, but I do have 8 silver.

Congrats! Make sure you go there for your 7 day streak, you will get close to 30 items!

I have 4, but closing in on a few more of the 8 gyms in town. One is in a remote area where I had a defender for ~ 16-18 days. Otherwise, raids and placing defenders seem to help the most.

Congrats. I have 5 right now and have about 4 more that are right there to turn Gold . Bad part is I'm moving this weekend so I'm gonna have to start from scratch. Plus side is where I'm moving to, is it's a way bigger city and different biome.
