Pokestops/Elite Pokemon

Is it safe to say that its very rare to see Elite Pokemon near Pokestops? If so, the new tracking system will only serve to help us find low mons?

Additional problem: even if they did show up near a nearby Pokestop, would the Rattatas and Pidgeys take precedence over them on the tracker with only nine spots open? Best "nearby" sighting I've had since the rollout was a Golduck at a stop .5 miles away. It disappeared a minute later when three Venonats popped up at a stop .4 miles away.

From my tests tonight where there was something more interesting than a Rattatta/Pidgey and there were multiple Pokes at the stop the more interesting one showed ahead of one of the Rats/Pidgeys, so there may be some filtering going on, but probably only for the very common species. I doubt it's that sophisticated so it's not likely to know whether you'd rather catch a Psyduck or a Venonat.

I've only seen 1 wild 'elite' pokemon, Snorlax, and it was next to a pokestop.

So no.

It depends what you term 'elite'. I've yet to see any Snorlax, Dragonite or Lapras in the wild anyway. I do see the odd Rhyhorn and Squirtle near Pokestops.

I found a Scyther in the park near my work using the new tracker and a Poliwag in my home town, but it mainly showed what is always in the town, Spearows, Rattattas and Pigeons, with just the odd more interesting Poke thrown in (well more interesting to lower level players - Koffing, Psyduck level).

I suspect the tracker will be of most use to sub level 20 players. Once you've got most of your Pokedex filled Pokes are largely just Stardust.

It's very rare to see Elite pokes.
Near or far from pokeStops.

I think they don't need to be exactly AT the pokeStop to be shown in the tracker.

By now all the 5 Snorlax and 3 Dragonite I've met wild were pretty close to a pokeStop.
With the old system I saw just in the radar +2 and +2 and didn't encounter them (went around half a hour those days).

By the way today I was happy and able to go straight ahead to the target in 1 minute walk:

I've been lucky enough to catch five Snorlax in the wild (and get one via egg) through level 31.

Of those five, three were close enough to pokestops that I'm pretty sure they would have been shown on the new tracker. I don't believe the other two would have been close enough so they wouldn't have shown up at all.

If it makes you feel any better 2 out of the 3 wild snorlax I caught were near a pokestop. My wild Charizard was also near a pokestop. I don't think I've caught anything else super rare wild

I have caught many rare ones on pokestops, but I also caught a couple of lapras and snorlax and dragonites in the wild not near a pokestop.

My first Snorlax and two more were near enough to pokestops that they would have shown up with this new system. But I have also caught eight more that I found in residential neighborhoods far from pokestops using the original three-step tracker, pokevision, and later fastpokemap. (Still no hatches, still nothing exceptional worth powering up.) Since fastpokemap has been down I have not seen any more Snorlax.

I've seen a Dragonite, Lapras, and Machamp near pokestops on the new tracker feature. I actually prefer the new feature because otherwise it is just dumb luck if one happens to be within a few hundred yards.

nah ive seen some rare pokemon like venusaur and aerodactyl.

as for elite. i get occasional abras and ryhorns who got buffed. started playing again yesterday after dropping it for like two months maybe 3. game looks good so far. no complaints from me.
even if its just low mons, still nets u the same exp. and its evolution exp right there.

theres no reason to believe a good pokemon will NEVER EVER appear at a pokestop.

I doubt there's a correlation. Of the "elite" pokemon I've caught, 2 Snorlaxes, 1 Arcanine, and a Dragonite on my sightings but I didn't find were nowhere near a pokestop, and I don't remember catching anything impressive directly at a pokestop.
