Is Raymond Shaw is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in your life? :)
Seriously, I'm starting to wonder how many people like knowing the exact location of every Rattata in their town and how many are actually Niantic plants sent to offer contrarian opinions for PR reasons. Because right now, you're in the deep minority, and it's not even close.
Does calling out my sarcasm make my "opinion" less valid than yours? Does your ad hominem attack make the four Pidgeys, two Rattatas, 2 Venonats and a Paras I'm staring at turn into something worth walking out the door for? No? Does you just saying "Yay, I love it!" without rationally explaining why it's an improvement make me and the other people for whom the game just became unplayable want to reconsider our justifiable anger?
Either an update works for a vast majority of players or it doesn't, and if it doesn't (seriously, step out of your bubble and read the official Twitter announcement responses) than the company should live up to it's pledge to listen to feedback and do something about it. The temporary fix is simple: bring back sightings. Have both. It's ain't hard.
I work in the City, and the new tracker works great. However, I live in a somewhat rural area with no pokestops nearby, but I still have the sightings. So, maybe it's just a bug that some don't see sightings anymore? Or is it confirmed that they are doing away with sightings and just using the nearby pokestop tracking system?
Interesting that you's says sightings whilst mine says 'nearby'. I wonder whether there is still work to do.
I'm in the minority who found the old sightings a pain because it didn't take account of barriers - local creek, no rear access to office block etc.
The obvious solution would be to have two tabs, one for near Pokestops and one within a fixed distance of your location. That might keep most people happier (I won't say happy ;) ).
I definitely agree that would be an obvious solution. In the little testing I've done so far, I could definitely use both, when I'm at work or home, the new one is pretty much useless because I can't get to the few pokestops that show up on my screen and I know there are other mon's closer. Then when I am out actively playing in near several poke stops (10-20) within a half mile or so, the new one seems to help quite a bit, since I no longer have to wander around to spawn points hoping i get the right one in time.
