what can niantec do about team balance?
see it less often then you used to, but you see a newish player ask on your local chatter 'what team do I choose'
The inevitable answer they get is choose the team that looks dominant in the gym scene.
which is good for that player but makes the position of minority teams even harder.
So in this game dominance is not based on skill, team work or anything much other then numbers and how active they are (legit and non legit)
so what do you think would need to be done to balance things?

Teams don't matter much anymore. Heck I'm on an underdog team and it means that I have lots of gym to take down easily and earn on. Meanwhile the main team is on Facebook begging folks to knock their Pokes out that have sat for a week.
Honestly around here it feels like we are all just team raid. What the hell we are supposed to "do" in this game with those raided mons is where we are lost now.
gym ownership gives you 2 extra balls and showing up to a raid were 8 people are instinct 3 are mystic and 2 are valor means instinct is automatically 5 balls up just for showing up.
And my catch rate is fine 10/12 arti and 5/9 lugia so not salty just posing it as a question and feeling for those less fortunate.
Not only do teams not matter that much, teams should work together. Holding a gym for 6 hrs 20 min maxes your coins, at which point your mon go on unpaid overtime. Someone on another team is doing you a favor if they get them out of there.
One gym could easily max out the coins for 18 players if they worked together. 2 shifts of 6.5 hours and one overnight, everyone gets 50 a day. Mind you, that won't get you a gold gym badge that quickly, but it will come, and that's a minor quibble.
What can they do about team balance? Nothing, there's absolutely no advantage being Red, Blue, or Yellow. There may be advantages within your specific locale, but beyond that there's none.
So for Niantic to balance things there needs to first be imbalance. And there isn't any.
In fact, I'm a bit shocked at how evenly it's spead down here in central Florida.
And these days there are a lot of advantages to being on a minority team - such as not getting stuck with your mon in a gym for 5+ days at a time.
I think the game is perfectly balanced. Some players may regret their choices of a year ago, but that doesn't mean it's because they chose a weaker team.
I'm still happy to be Instinct, but must admit it sucks at raids when I'm generally the only Yellow in the group. I'd like more balls, but I've beaten four straight bonus challenges.
I think users should be able to change teams, if they choose, once every 30 days. They should also do more team incentivizing events like Pokémon Go Fest yielding Articunos to celebrate Mystic. I'd also add incentives for staying with your team. Reward loyalty with star dust?
Oh, and if teams don't matter, can someone please tell the Mystic and Valor punks in Houston? ?
Put us all back in gray and then randomize all players by individual level at the time. All level 40 get reassigned at random in equal numbers between teams. All level 39 would be re-randomized. etc... all the way down to level 5.
This could be done on a worldwide basis, country basis, or some smaller geographical area basis to better ensure balance between the teams.
