Exeggutor's Damage Question

I've been playing Pokémon Go for about 5 months and only been able to evolve three Exeggcutes, one with Confusion / Psychic, other with Confusion / Seed Bomb and finally the one evolved yesterday came with Confusion / Solar Beam. I really need a grass pokémon with a decent moveset for attacking; grass pokémon are very rare in my area. I've been able to evolve only one Venusaur with Vine Whip / Sludge Bomb, a Victreebell with Acid / Leaf Blade, I still can't get enough candy to evolve an Oddish.

I undertand that the ideal moveset for Exeggutor would be Zen Headbutt / Solar Beam, but considering the rareness of grass pokemon where I live, would it be worth power him up for attack. How Confusion instead of Zen Headbutt would affect the actual performance of my Exeggutor??

It would make minimal difference. There's an abundance of exeggcutes in my area so it always throws Exeggutors in the auto select when I attack. It's the charge move that matters if you're wanting it as a grass attacker.

Power that that thing up and it will nuke opponents with solar beam. Keep trying for a VW/SB venusaur, it's also fantastic.

Wish I could trade you spots for a few days, I'm guessing you have a lot of growlithe, machop, electrics? I have to hatch those, can't find them anywhere

Yeah!, Growlithe, Rhyhorn and Machop are really common here. Thanks for the answer!

Assuming that they all have good IVs, I'd power up the Confusion+Psychic one as a gym defender. However if you need an attacker (and don't mind the slow moves) the one with Solar Beam would do the job just fine imo.

I personally live in an area full of grass types and I powered up my Confusion+Solar Beam Exegg for defending - out of 10 evolutions I only got one with Confusion+Psychic and it's got mediocre IVs.

In this situation, I can imagine how you feel, as I have no Exeggcute spawns here, either, probably caught up to 1, but other ones are from egg, so I stick with my Zen Headbutt+Psychic as that was the moveset I wanted. Neither here is too many Oddishes, I got most of them from eggs and so far have evolved 2 Oddishes through Vileplume, and at the 2nd time got the Razor Leaf+Solar Beam.

However, as you have Exeggutor with Solar Beam, I think you should power up it and wait till you get Oddish candies and see what movesets you will obtain. If moveset doesn't satisfy you, that's frustrating, but keep trying, at least you got Exeggutor , so you can do fine against water type Pokemons.

Thanks, I'll go for it! He will be my first usable pokémon with Solam Beam, so I expect to have fun for a couple of days.

I think you have 2 clear acceptable choices. The first is power up the c/sb to 30 assuming you have good IVs. Good is thats gonna be a solid water counter for you, the best you have. The bad is its not the best defender since SB is one of the easiest moves to dodge in the game but still a very serviceable gym defender nevertheless. A worthy mon to put in any gym. The second choice is to use the Victrebell you have and maybe some parasects(surprisingly strong with bb/sb) temporarily and keep grinding the bulbasaurs. Then instead of the C/SolarB you can power up the C/P or C/SeedB (id go with higher CP if IVs are similar).

PS.. What IV app are you using?

I've had 3 Parasect with Bug Bite / Solar Beam and made them candy without hesitation :/ I'll try the next one. I also like Exeggutor with Confusion and Psychic, but I rather fight with my Kairos (Hypno) with Zen Headbutt / Psychic, he's pretty hard to kill and does a decent amount of damage in spite of his low attack. I'll gather candy for the one with Solam Beam, I think.

The app is called Poke Genie, you take a screenshot of your pokemon in the game and the app calculates its IV's, it's kinda cool how it works haha.

As an exeggutor lover (I've got 10 with 8 of them above 2300 CP and 8 having solar beam), i can assure you that a confusion/solar beam exeggutor is great. it's not as great in attack as a zenheadbutt and solar beam exeggutor but its still decent for taking out Vaporeons. It's also a defensive moveset so it can be of dual use. Definitely max it if its iv is at least 60%
