Rare candy regrets

I was at a Tyranitar raid with 4 other people. Two of them were kids at around level 23-24. That left me (35), another guy (31) and a woman (28). As I really didn't think we had the firepower to make it, I was desperate to power up a second Machamp to level 30. But I only had around 30 Machop candy. So what did I do? I actually went ahead and spent 30-35 rare candy on it. Went to battle with two L30 Machamps, A L30 Poliwrath, A L20 Machamp and two L35.5 Vaporeons.

We made it with around 30 seconds to spare.

In other words I could have saved those 30-35 rare candy for legendaries. A bit of a dumbass move.

Oh, and to make matters worse, I failed to catch the TTar which was 2073cp - so fairly high IV's. Jumped out of the ball 8 times even with all golden razzies, all curveballs, 1 excellent shot and 3 great throws.

Any of y'all do stupid stuff like that when in a stressful situation?

Well, I wasted two of my three Charged TM's last night, when I decided to try to reroll my 96% IV, level 31 Scizor from FC/IH into FC/XC. Of course, I got NS on the first attempt, so I tried again, and it reverted to IH.

Ouch! Both my decent Scizors evolved with BP/NS, one got transferred in disgust (this was pre-TM's). With only 100 candy I evolved my next best Scyther (but only L20) that already had double bug moves, and luckily got BP/XS, so well worth a Fast TM for guaranteed joy! Burned the rest of my Scyther candy pushing him L28, now I need a double candy event to transfer more Scythers to feed him, he's 2 levels away from a breakpoint against Eggy boss.
Yours is a good reminder about caution with Charge TM's.... although now that I have double-bug Scizor I might re-roll my NS, will either get a double-Steel Scizor or XS and burn another Fast TM for a 2nd double bug. I really prefer guaranteed results with my TM's!

I think I had one too many beers before I decided to take that gamble. I started getting all excited thinking about possible Mewtwo/Mew counters, and figured it was worth a shot. It was a 75% chance to get XC in one of the first two TM's, but it wasn't my lucky day. I think I'll wait until I have a larger stockpile of TM's before taking a gamble like that again.

The advent of TM's also has me struggling with what to do with my legacy 100% IV SW/BB Scyther, long ago powered up to level 35. I was dead-set against evolving it, not wanting to risk the legacy moveset for a possible NS Scizor, but now I've got a decision to make. I could Fast TM the Scyther and hope to get FC while retaining the legacy BB, but I might get AS, which is arguably still better than SW. Or, I could evolve it, and eventually get whatever moveset I want, but who knows how many TM's that will take. And there is always the possibility they will buff SW and make defenders relevant again.

Absolutely! On a Ttar raid about 2 weeks ago, the 4 or 5 of us just barely timed out. One guy was like "my wife's going to kill me" (for spending so much dust powering up HP vapes). I splurged and evolved 2 high-level machops (with only OK IV's) recently farmed from a vacation nest (i.e. no chance of going back) and burned up much of my 400+ Machop candy - but got CC and the second got DP so pretty lucky.
Then after all that, another random shows up and we beat it with time on the clock, so probably wasn't absolutely necessary after all!
But at the end of the day this is why we collect resources - to use for "emergencies" - I feel good that we would have nailed him even without the additional trainer showing up, and I love my "above average" Champ with C/DP!!

I've used some on TT candy, I don't regret that. I'm not hatching a bunch of eggs anymore, so I'm not going to get it that way. That many machop is extreme, I might do 3 rare candy to hope for a better Scizor...for me, any legendary catch is going to be a P-dex trophy for a while--my limited stardust is going to Golem and TT

Maxed out (38.5 and 38 to be exact) 2 golems in day 1 of raids to solo an Arcanine(failing with them at lvl 30). And an 80 iv rhydon I did not used since then :). Granted I arrived with 15 minutes before raid end and after one fight did not had time to try interim levels. All in :).
At least golems are 96 and 98 IVs and I knew they are kings for legendary birds.
Left with 6 geodude candy. Next day 100 iv geodude was hatched :). Now I walk him :).

Those Golems are gonna be awesome going forward so I wouldn't regret that if I were in your shoes.

Somehow half tegret :); not enoght to solo a Flareon(tried 8 fight vs a fs/fire blast one), too much for an Arcanine :); not enogh candies for the 100 iv that appeared after :). Will see the breakpoints vs. legendaries :).

With Geodude being a 1km buddy, you'll have that 100% bad boy evolved & powered up soon enough!

Yep, I'm on 122 right now. 1 week and he will be close to lvl 30. Hopefully will get SE from start :).

One reason I avoid "in the field" powerups...I usually just power up to Level 30 now if I need that type of mon.

The fun aspect now with the gym changes is building out a team for each raid boss...I try to have 4 top tier counters and if not, use fillers so for Tyranitar, maybe a simple Primeape or Hitmon will work ok...

I just now use my 2 Vaps since I don't have anymore useful (lvl or moveset) Machamps...

For my first real raid boss (not counting a Magikarp the day before), I didn't know how hard it would be for us to beat the Alakazam we were planning to fight. All I had to use against it were Pinsirs, so I started looking for a couple other options to power up, so I raised a Gengar from 20 to 30, and then an Umbreon to have something that wouldn't die so quickly. Of course I was getting so many network errors and lag, it ended up powering the Umbreon two extra times.

After half an hour of waiting for everyone to arrive, we finally fought it, but my battle clock was ~100 seconds behind everyone else, then the game crashed when my timer finally reached 0 to join. I asked if one or two of them would back out and fight it again with me, but they all just kept fighting and finished it off before I could restart my game to get into the fight. So I spent around 150k dust and my raid pass for a fight I didn't even get to participate in, and I haven't even had any reason to use that Umbreon again since, because I didn't realize how weak it was going to be powered up.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. It's too bad that Umbreon isn't more useful in the current meta. Maybe sometime in the future.

Don't beat yourself up, at least you won and you might have caught the Tyranitar! I've considered using rare candy to evolve a second Tyranitar as my chances of meeting enough players at a raid are remote.... (didn't do it because I've had several recent larvitar hatches and he's my buddy).

You will get more candy, so don't look back!

P.S. I've done lots of stupid stuff when stressed, don't know where to begin ;)
