I caught a 96% IV Venusaur from a raid and it got Vine Whip/ Solar Beam. My question is do you prefer Vine Whip or Razor Leaf? looking at it Razor Leaf is a better attack but Vine Whip builds energy faster. Having Solar Beam would you only use Vine Whip to be able to use that more commonly?

Grats - VW/SoB is generally considered better for attacking, and attacking is all that matters in the current meta, so you got the best moveset.

I prefer VW by far.

(1) much shorter, better for dodging
(2) builds energy faster, great for solar beam.

Your Venusaur is great. Congratulations. Please do not waste a TM to make it worse. :-)

It was back of my mind, but i also have a 98% one with RL/Petal Blizzard. Sometimes i think certain pokemon just love certain trainers lol. Can not get a good Lapras or TTar or Chansey to save my life lol.

Lapras has always been my frustrating pokemon. The only one I have over 82% is my 100%.

For some reason it is Bulbasaur and Teddiursa. Even before Raids Electabuzz was lucky for me. But even the more common pokemon i won't be so lucky. Note i have a 100% and 96% Electabuzz and have never done a raid.( Hope in Gen 4 he will be a beast.) and Teddiursa 100% and a laundry list of 90s. yet Dnite i have 6 and 2 are above 70% lol

I haven't found a great Teddiursa either, and I have over 1000 candies. Always did well with Dragonite IVs, it was the movesets I had issues with. I have a 93 and 2 95s, I believe.

yep flip flop those two and that is my luck. Good Movesets on Dnite, even using TM i get the optimal charge move majority of the time. and Teddiursa the Movesets are never the right combination. My 100% are as follows.
Ninetales- FS/SoB
Electabuzz- TS/TP
Ursaring- MC/PR
I believe in the High IV bad Moveset conspiracy lol.

I have the exact same 96% Venusaur, and it is among my most used pokémon. VW is better than RL for sure (I have both and have tested both). A nice catch!

Without question, Vine Whip is the preferred basic move. Considering VSaur's reasonable bulk when dodging water types, the difference in energy gain could be the difference of being able to fire one more Solar beam in a Vaporeon raid!

They don't do more precise grades on here for Venusaur, like Dnite will have A, A-. But both quick moves with Solar Beam are A so it is hard to determine which is better based off just that.

It's pretty much a wash if you don't Dodge. VW gives you better ability to dodge if the situation calls for it. RL is the better defensive move (if defense ever matters again).
