No double XP for raids with lucky egg?

I was getting very close to level 36 so I decided to use a lucky egg before "fighting" a Magikarp boss. When I "defeated" it, I was surprised that I got only 3,000 XP, although I got double XP for catching the boss.

Was that a glitch, or are raid XP not doubled?

P.S. So I leveled up to 36... How do you stay motivated when you have to reach 2,000,000 XP?
