Hate to be that guy- Golem
So here is my question, I have a Golem that is RT/EQ. Considering the other 2 moves are Rock Blast and Stone Edge, is that like an obvious Charge TM candidate? I think i have 2 Charged TMs left and would probably only use it on him if i had 5+. but just making sure Earthquake is like the equivalent to Heavy Slam on Machamp(though Machamp does not get STAB) Where it is so obvious the other two move or strong enough to make it a candidate for the change.

Keep Rhydon MS/SE
If Rhydon gets a fast rock move it will be better than Golem.
Don't understand the golem hype (yet), yeah sure legendary birds but we don't have them yet. If Rhydon gets a quick rock move than Rhydon is the one.
Only rock use now is raiding flareon; but you'll do fine with just water and ground
Very True, but can't play pogo on what ifs. Legendaries WILL happen. Rhydon getting a rock fast move might. Plus i think Legendaries will happen before Rhydon gets that fast move, so should probably go for it anyway with Golem, but i understand waiting on Rhydon. I won't just yet, or maybe make one Rhydon with double Ground and the other With Ground/Rock in preparation.
I changed my 97% RT/EQ Golem to RT/SE...
Useful for all the fire bosses and helpful if you want to solo Arcanine...Don't think anyone has soloed Flareon yet...but good for that and Charizard too...
Good if you want to be that guy dishing out the most damage in a raid...
Also true that Rhydon will outclass Golem if it gets a quick move since RS and MS sucks...but for me, high IV sorta gets priority with TMs...
Agree with you that RT/EQ is certainly good...
With charge TMs and attackers in general, I suppose getting same type attack is preferable for near all cases and since EQ -> SE/RB is guaranteed with a TM currently, I feel it's worth it to use for a "sure" thing...Sorta like the HB -> O/HU Dragonites...
I have also evolved, used TMs in case moves are changed again, if say Gen 3 drops and some moves disappear...
New moves can be better, but if they are already pretty decent, then getting them now might be good since you can also farm for new moves after they drop...
For attacking, you're best served by having the same type for QM and CM. So Golem should either be RT/SE or MS/EQ. Rhydon doesn't have that option, but MS/SE is pretty strong (note that the base damage for SE is about 30% higher than EQ, so in general SE is stronger.)
Hitting RT/EQ Golem with a Charge move TM will either give him SE (win!) or Rock Blast, which is the weakest of his CMs, and has by far the lowest DPS. Some people like the two and three bar moves, but the key in raids is to do enough damage before timing out, so DPS is king. Unless you can get about 1.8 bar's worth of moves off before being KO'd, so a one bar move gets 1 off, but a two bar gets 3 and a three bar 5, you generally want best DPS at a given type.
Finally, double ground Golem is not as strong as double ground Rhydon, but is still useful. Double rock Golem is the only strong mon in the game with that move combination. (Sudowoodo and Shuckle don't qualify, too weak.)
This is true, but Rhydon will always be a harder hitter than Golem if you're going double Ground so having a Golem with Ground seems redundant/pointless to me...at least in the current meta/move pool available...
Without a Rock move, a RT/EQ Golem, even though RT is tons better than Mud Slap, seems out of place.
Their ground moves are the same so you'd never want to use a Golem assuming you also have a Rhydon with the same ground moves...
I don't know about everyone else, but Rhydon's were my staple gym defenders in the previous meta so I have a ton with half decent IVs/maxed out to sit in gyms earlier.
Yes, TMs are pretty rare and is it worth it to get a double rock Golem? I think if you had one with very high IVs, I'd say yes, I'd TM it (and have myself)...
No one knows what can happen...It's rumored and probably true IMO that the Legendary mons will make an appearance this summer starting with Go Fest so one can assume Mewtwo possibly first and probably the earliest ones will be the Legendary Birds since they were Gen 1...The others are maybe later...
Will moves change before Legendaries drop? If gen 3 doesn't come yet, probably not, but ultimately, that's impossible to know so if you don't have a "single" double rock Golem, I'd certainly get 1 in case there isn't any double rock attackers when/if moves ever change again.
Ultimately, look at your team/line up and cover any big holes/gaps in your lineup...
I would've loved to get a Rock Throw/ Rock Slide Omastar or a Shadow Claw Gengar...
Hitting RT/EQ Golem with a Charge move TM will either give him SE (win!) or Rock Blast, which is the weakest of his CMs,
Define weak.
and has by far the lowest DPS.
DPS is irrelevant for CMs. Combined DPS with Quick attack would be relevant.
Some people like the two and three bar moves,
Indeed.
but the key in raids is to do enough damage before timing out, so DPS is king.
This does not mean CMs DPS, but moveset's dps. This should concider wasted Energy (quick attacks with full bar waiting for opponents cm or death with half energy bar filled) too.
you can get about 1.8 bar's worth of moves off before being KO'd, so a one bar move gets 1 off,
Indeed.
With these conciderations, Gamepress rates both moves, RB and SE - A.
I just caught a perfect Geodude and found out that I just had enough candies to fully evolve it (128 candies). Got a RT/RB Golem.. Thought RB to be inferior to Stone Edge and was initally disappointed. Then I checked Golem's skillset in this website and found out that both are ranked A in terms of attacks. So I am happy even though I didn't get Stone Edge..
