Not really because I'm one of those people.

As a person who has done 44 raids without a single TM, has 4 Dragonites with poor moves, a Tyranitar with iron tail/fireblast, and countless other high iv pokemon with the worst possible move sets. I can honestly say I enjoy the game and will continue playing throughout all these negative factors. Powering up pokemon regardless of moveset will always be fun for me.

I'm fine with Tyranitar being easy for some, I think it is kind of overrated. However, Dragonite raids will get me on the local wire to ride the gravy train as well. Although, I at least have a 2300 Lapras and seven 2000+ Cloysters to contribute, instead of reaping the rewards with a bunch of punching bags

I see no problem with having issues and discussing it, but there is a big difference between irate ranting and constructive discussions.

I agree totally. There are issues that i am having too but I try not to rant

Up

I don't think the majority of the people here ever really get to ranting...I've voiced my complaints here plenty of times and sorta stopped, but the fact of the matter is the game has lost a lot of end game or simply, goals to continue playing...

I'm not one of those that will ever ask random Internet people as to why I should keep playing (I always say if you want to stop, don't ask and just stop because honestly, nobody cares about you or what you do...)...

...but with the update, EVERYTHING that was a "thing/important" (trying to level up, gym defenders, prestigers, buddy candies, walking, hatching eggs, high IVs, exploring far and out of the way gyms) is now completely useless...

Discussing it and constructive griping about it is probably a good thing so maybe Niantic can make changes...

If not, it's their money and their jobs so as a free2play player, no skin off my back...Whether there is Pokemon Go or not, the dog still has to be walked so I'm still playing, grinding, walking...

The event so far does suck though and I'd be shocked if this is all there is...There is nothing in this event that would make someone want to simply play "more" at this time (or during this event week)...Certainly not Ash Hat Pikachu...

I assume there will be more stuff during the Jun 22nd weekend and Go Fest.

All this said, I'd say 66% of the people probably like the new gyms since they can get coins now for little/no work at all...

Even my wife gets more coins now since she would only get 20-30 before, but put 2 or 3 in gyms, get 50...

What event?

Up

Maybe these rare raids are the event? What if it is part of the event to have such large spawn rates of raids. and after July it dies down drastically? People speak before Niantic does.... and that is where the ranting comes out. No one would make a big deal about Pikachu if speculation didn't happen about 75% off a bunch of items. Stop reading things before Niantic says anything because you will only get your hopes up beyond a point that Niantic can't exceed so you're left either meh, or displeased.

Well gîve me ppl to play With like in cities and it ll be ok. Adapt? Lol. Adapt what if you can t do anything? Your expérience isn t mine . Accept it. You have fun. I can t .
Niantic should créat bots for People alone like me. It s àn entire part of the new systèm that i can t enjoyeux. But i m happy if you can.

"Niantic has made active attempts at improving the game based on feedback and stuff".

I think all the attempts are based on the "and stuff", because I have not seen much feedback used, a forum like TSR or reddit was completely overrun by people telling this was the worst event ever, a normally relaxed and active player discussion places full of critizism and after everything they have not addressed it.

A one year anniversary with a pikachu hat and a box is not an event, period. You can like it more or less, but you can't call event a simple "put your money here" action.

Up
0
Down

Every "event" they have had they have called it an event themselves.... They literally say "You’ll also be able to stock up for Raid Battles and the events ahead with the special limited-time Anniversary Box" Everyone just wants to complain about everything. Honestly, i was fine with just raids. I will say the Box was pointless, but they added a pikachu. Hell if they add a squirtle squad sunglasses squirtle i would be thrilled. Stop thinking so big and you may just be pleased, Sorry this free game can not please you.

Up

Raids are not the anniversary event, they added it to the note just because they don't want people to get completely mad.

The raids are part (if not almost all) the new gym system and that is part of the trimester update they promised, not more, not less. If you really believe that raids are part of the anniversary then I am happy that they can't trick me so easily.

Also this sentence "free game" is the most false statement you could ever say. PoGo is not a free game, it has never been and it will never be, pay players make it free for the others, if pay players disappear pogo disappears, period. The rest of us pay in order that you can play for free, I love how free players are so blind that can see something as basic as that.

Calling a game that is making billions as free to play is an insult to the ones that have contributed to make it possible.

Up

Niantic has confirmed that PoGo earned enough in the first month to run the game for years......I would call that a thank you to the fad players who stopped playing.
It is the Definition of a free game, Free games are brought to you by advertisements..... Starbucks....Sprint.... other various businesses outside of the united states. I believe Mcdonalds in Japan is one.... Mcdonalds pays Fifty cents per visit. your choice to pay i'm sure is appreciated by Niantic but they do not need your money to keep going, they want your money. All in all, we can agree to disagree because there is no sense in arguing over a game made for children.

Up

Aren't you the guy that just said there is no point in arguing over a kid's game? Why are you still here?

Up

Yes, so Starbucks, Sprint and Mcdonald's will keep on giving Niantic money when the player base keeps dropping, I don't know in what world you think you live but have you ever asked why the game is still full of spoofers, cheaters and bots? Why they slash their mon instead of deleting all the accounts? Maybe it is because they will lose all that companies money if their accounts numbers start dropping like 70-80%?

They don't need my money? Do you think all players surroundings are full of those stops? Starbucks and Sprint don't even exist in 100km radius from me (Sprint is not even a thing in my country), and I am sure that 80% or more of the players don't have those stops around them.

Do you really think this game can survive without pay players? Just with sponsors? Sponsors are there because of the players, not the other way around ;)

Advertising is just anyway to get your name out in new ways. Pokemon go is commonly played by Teens and 20 year olds. That is Starbucks target demographic. Just by doing the deal each business has introduced their names into pokemon go headline circles.I will toss this out there aswell, i have not seen a spoofer in my town in weeks. so if we are going off personal problems.... for me that is fixed. I am not trying to change your mind on anything but you can not see here and assume what you are saying is fact. you are rambling numbers that are completely made up. Please continue your enjoyment of the game and hopefully everything works out for you.

Up

You haven't "seen" a spoofers huh? Neither have I, ever, but I assume their there. That's the crazy thing about spoofers you can't see them. The gym system is designed so that spoofers aren't as obvious as they used to be when they were creating gym towers that lasted months. They are just as prevalent as they were before the gym update.

Up
0
Down

You assume they are there. And no i have not seen any spoofers... because obviously "Spoofers" set something in gyms.... this is called visual proof where you can see, also their account can be "seen". Every player in the 5-6 gyms by me i have met in the first level 4 raid i visited. One gym had two players same name different numbers... i think oh spoofer. Nope it is a man and his son that wanted the same name. As i told the person above please continue your enjoyment with the game. No further comment is necessary because we have different viewpoints.

Up
0
Down

I'm aware you can see them in gyms, however like I said it's not as obvious as it once was. Their still there. The gyms just break up and change faster so it's not as obvious, and they don't build towers now because it's pointless. Please enjoy game No further comment is needed because we have different viewpoints.

Tells us the playing demographic as if it is a fact...complains others are using made up numbers.

Key word "added" They added something. Something isn't enough anymore.... People want everything.

They may have "added" something but in the process they got rid of the competitiveness of the game, and the competitiveness was the only thing keeping a lot of the loyal customers playing

Yes to the squirtle squad!. Yes to the non shiny Pink Butterfree! Yes to a dress for the male avatar! (See Ash vs Erika) No to simply Pikachu and Box.

I guess im the only one here who have a problem with little Timmy.

Timmy who comes into a Tyranitar raid using an army of Blisseys while everyone else is using Vaperon, Machamp, or veanasaur. Then proceeds to win 3 TMs from the raid which they did nothing but tank out the damage while I win 24 revives only, then proceeds to catch a level 20 pokemon even though they are only level 17 and haven't logged in since the fire and ice event.

I guess I cant complain about when I go to feed a pokemon a berry and due to lag it is kicked out of the gym after I fed it the berry causing the berry to be permanently staying on the screen forcing a reboot.

I also cannot complain about spending 100 coins for a raid pass only to use it and find out that no one is in the raid lobby or going to join the lobby even though its a high traffic area. So besides randomly walking up to strangers and asking "hi are you battling the gym?" and getting an awkward look from them like im a weirdo or pedophile trying to lure kids with candy.

Yep. Game is going great!! I have no complains at all.

I wonder how many raichus I can accumulate with different hats

Up

I mean before I stop playing the game. I have already accumulated 3. I assume another promised event will sneak up on them in the future and someone working for them will suggest "just throw a new hat on a pikachu and call it the event if those idiots haven't caught on yet then they never will"

I’m finding myself not enjoying the game as much as I used to with the new system. That’s not to say it’s all bad, but I find the following changes the ones which bother me the most:

1) Lack of Defender Relevance – Defending gyms doesn’t matter anymore. This affects a whole lot of parameters in the game:
a. Blissey and Snorlax are now basically irrelevant. Likewise their candies are not as precious as they used to be. It’s not entirely bad as I can walk Larvitar or others freely, but sad to see my favorites that I worked so hard for being useless.
b. Defending movesets are now irrelevant as well. Any Pokemon with any moveset can be put in a gym. It’s great for diversity, but sad to see so many Pidgey and Ash Hat Pikachu sitting in gyms for days on end.
c. Because CP no longer matters, once you hit level 30 there’s really no benefit to hitting that next level and gaining access to two more Pokemon levels.

2) Pokemon Rarity – With the Raid bosses being so prevalent, the excitement of finding a rare pokemon in the wild is diminished. Use to get excited every time I saw a Machop or Grimer, now it’s ho-hum. And finding a Snorlax or Chansey just doesn’t matter anymore. This also takes the excitement out of egg hatching as well

3) Lack of Competitiveness Between Teams – I do love getting to work together with players from other teams on a raid (when people actually show up, which is another issue entirely), but now there’s really no competition. In fact, for the game to work efficiently teams really need to work together to get coins and keep gyms from stagnating. That aspect of the game was fun for me, and now it’s really gone.

All the changes aren’t all bad. There’s definitely less spoofer activity, the 10 Blissey towers are gone, TM’s and Rare Candies are great. I love collecting new Gym Medals when I travel and like having a use for my nanab berries, even if it currently works against my team.

But I think the core problem of the update is making the game competitive again in the gym system. Easiest way to address most of the problems above is to give players a stardust bonus for holding gyms longer than XX period of time and/or a stardust bonus for taking them down (amount based on the total CP of the Pokemon in the gym). Making raids a rare event instead of all the time, every day would also 1) bring back the rarity aspect of the Pokemon and 2) possibly increase the likelihood of other players showing up since there are fewer raids.

Just my two cents – been thinking about this the past two weeks.

I agree with the team/competition part. Yesterday I was thinking "What is the point of teams?" It's basically just so someone can help you get your coins, right? They are about cooperation, not competition. Just make us all one team and have a team Rocket or something.

Up
0
Down

Team Rocket battles could be so much fun. Or have random gym leaders from the game suddenly appear (or imagine getting to battle Red/Ash from Pokemon Gold)?

Up
0
Down

There's no middle ground
Old gym system: your on nobody's team, people were shaving their own teammates all the time

New gym system: your on everybody's team, "hey could you kill my Pokémon so I can get my coins?"

Up
0
Down

I agree the biggest issue BY FAR is the competitiveness. If the game isn't competitive it just is not as fun. All the hard work you put in to being "better" than others can't even be measured, while it used to be measured by that 100coin 5000dust bonus. If the game becomes competitive again I think a lot of people will be happy.

Up
0
Down

Let's pretend the game was free and the people that play weren't offered coins for money. Niantic would still create a way for them to benefit financially or they wouldn't bother keeping the game going. If there benefiting financially from this game they should care enough to listen to feedback from the customer. I think people are frustrated because before the gym update I must have read 50 ideas of how they could make it better that are better then what they did. But more important, after the update, I have heard 50 different ways to make it better so that there's incentive to put good defenders in gyms, and incentive to stay in gyms, and I'm talking about minor changes to the gym system that people came up with on this forum that would not take much effort. People are frustrated cause niantic just doesn't care about their customer. That's just a horrible for business. This game has the potential to be a gold mine for them, it could be the biggest cell phone game of all time easily, and it could stay relevant through all of the Pokémon generations, if they just don't mess it up.

Up
0
Down

That's one of the big myths in capitalism...that businesses actually care about their customers. It is about profit, nothing more. That is why there are patents, monopolies, and things like cartels and syndicates. If you have full control of something it is much easier to limit competition and maximize profit, without having to worry about the opinions or wellbeing of customers.

Up
0
Down

Agreed but it's in their best interest to care because if we stop playing they no longer profit. It just makes no sense to me, the game has so much potential idk why they wouldn't want to maximize their profits by trying to reach its potential

Up
0
Down

When people stop playing in large numbers, they will do something...but are people quitting in large numbers?

Up
0
Down

It shouldn't take people quitting for them to try to maximize the potential of their product. But I am sure the active player number has been slowly declining since the game came out.

I enjoy this thread, like is everyone in here a troll? person literally states "I'm sick of seeing it. Some of you don't even have actual problems I think we just need to adapt to the changes." what does everyone do? post their "problems" into his thread. guess my easy amusement is getting the best of me on this one.

The OP asked a question. Obviously the answer is no. What did they think was going to happen? I don't go to a political convention and say "anyone else annoyed with those people who support abortion?" What do you think will happen?

Lol. seriously pokemon go to a political convention is hilarious. good choice on comparisons. OH JEEZ!

You do realize they are having a Pokemon Go convention, right?

I use politics as an example because I am the co-founder of a non-profit focused on getting people active in the political system.
