Gym defense?

So i'm a lvl 27 rural player and there are 3 gyms within my reach wich I walk to daily.
I have a ~2100cp Blissey and a ~2200cp Snorlax wich I usually use on defense.
I have most of the gen 1 and 2 dex filled only missing a few of the rare (like Tyranitar), I've been wondering if there are any other good defenders other than the obvious Blissey and Snorlax since these might be needed for raid bosses.

To get your coins, you need not worry about your defenders, you should worry about talking to rivals. So you can assure everybody remains half a day in gym to get his maximum 50 coins.

A gym cannot be defended anymore. I can take down every gym in 8 minutes.

Rural gameplay is way different than Urban.
P.s. Since everone wants Snorlax and Chansey candy they will feed them up like crazy instead of letting them die

I am suburban, we have rural gyms and urban gyms. Still, at the moment, communication is the key. Different from before, now win-win at a gym is possible. Everybody can get maximum coins without having to hurt anybody.
In rural play, you are likely to know your rivals, don't you?

My biggest rivals are 2 spoofers/cheaters with 3 accounts each

Maybe you know their prefered playing time. If they play in the evening, you should take your gyms in the morning or vice versa.

If they play in the morning and in the evening, you must be sure to play after them.

If non of this is possible - you will not earn many coins, no matter who defends.

I'm one of the lucky people. Where we live, there is one stop and one gym. My wife and I are Mystic, friends up the road are Valor. They take the gym at 6.30am on the way to work and we take it back at 5.30pm on the way home from work. Everybody gets their 50 per day.

The only negative is the only Instinct in the village who jumps in sometimes but he never stays for long :-)
