Been away Muk question

So I have been away from the site but was looking at the winners and losers list and saw Muk as a winner. Does this mean my 96 PJ/DP Muk is a good defender these days??

I would argue he has always been a good defender but suffered from his cp. He is stronger now because dark pulse and infestation hit psychic Pokemon harder. I do have pj on mine and don't intend to change it at this time.

The main point is Infestation, as it has the greatest damage and energy against psychic and/or ground attackers. Dark Pulse was hard for prestiging, but since it won't happen anymore at least for now, Infestation + Dark Pulse will become an A moveset and is even superior to I/GS due to type effectivenesses.

I chose this type of Muk last week to fully power it up.

However, with the publicity here causing this soon to be the dominant defending Muk, the "surprise" effect will last short as nobody will pick psychic or ground attackers. You can still bring one down with neutral attackers. And in that case it helps if your Muk has STAB! So the long-term best compromise would then be Infestation/Gunk Shot.

I was looking at this list too, so happy they made that. Tentacruel is an interesting one also. But that Dark Pulse Will help against psychic attackers like the list said. I gotta power mine up and start laying it in gyms.

I did already, but people keep bailing him out if you drop him into the gym as the first when nobody else joins fast. It may take them over 5 minutes though.

I have a 96% Muk with PJ/DP sitting at 2426CP and love putting him in gyms. He is a decent defender and looks great in gyms.

To be honest, nothing is a "good" defender these days. Gyms are super easy to take down. But he can be a pain for Psychic attackers. DP comes quick and people don't have a lot of experience dodging it.

Go with the Muk!
