I'm trying to buff my counters and use my one and only Fast TM wisely. I understand ground is SE vs poison and electric, so MS/EQ is rated as a supreme counter for Rhydon and Golem. But why is Golem's MS/EQ rated better than MS/SE or RT/SE vs. Magmar, while RT/SE is the higher ranked move set? I mean, if it's not better against Fire, then when would it be more effective than MS/EQ?
Which is to say, I have the following:
Golem CP 1659/ IV 98 with RT/EQ
Golem CP 1734/ IV 96 with MS/SE
Rhydon CP 3047/ IV 89 with MS/SE
Rhydon CP 2685/ IV 82 with RS/EQ
Rhydon CP 2150/ IV 93 with RS/EQ
I'm not concerned with level 2 raid bosses; I've soloed all with ease. I'd like to solo Flareon (timed out on my first try), and prepare for future possible legendaries. I have candy and dust to fully power (level 35) one Golem and one of the lesser Rhydons. Should I use my Fast TM to get double rock Golem with RT/SE or double ground Golem with MS/EQ? Or should I power one Golem as is, and go for Rhydon with MS/EQ?
Sorry if this is asked and answered elsewhere, but all of my resources come from the rock event and are otherwise super rare here, as are TM's apparently. I appreciate any advice in advance.
Don't think you can solo Flareon with the given options available in the game.
I think Rock Throw/EQ or SE Golem has the best chance, having the highest DPS quick move (Rock throw outclasses mud slap and water gun) and a reasonable charge move (EQ or Stone EDge, but shame it is no Overheat or Solar Beam).
Vaporeon and Rhydon X6 definitely cannot do it in time even with the most optimal moves.

I tried 7 times in an hour with different setups. Variations with Vaporeon, Rhydon, Golem, Omastar, Dragonite even Kabutotops. Did not have a strong X6 team so every try was a bit of a different mix. The best times I got down to red with 20+ seconds left but that´s just close, no cigar.
Vaporeon, on the other hand, was a breeze with a close to optimal team, finished with 10s left.
