Gold Gym Badge

Has anyone got a Gold Gym Badge?
We have been in one Gym for about a week and seem to be 1/3 of the way there...
As these are not easy to get they should unlock significant rewards ... if not done now... then they should do in future.

I'm never clear what effect badges have. I have a few silver gym badges for gyms near my home, but nothing near gold. If silver has some benefit, it is not obvious, but there could be one.

Basically, a silver badge would grant you the same number of items as a first daily spin -under your team control

I'm 1/3 way as well in 3 of the gyms nearby home. I'm looking forward to finding the rewards. Maybe there is where stardust is hiding now?
