First succesful solo level 3 raid - report.

Waited for other people at a level 4 raid. None showed up. Found a level 3 raid instead against a Vaporeon. None showed up, so I decided to take it on. Not too confident after failing against an Alakazam yesterday, but I figured that Vaporeon was easier and that I had better counters to Vap than to Ala.

The Vaporeon has Water Pulse, which ought to be the easiest moveset to beat.

Team 1:
3063cp DT/Hu Dragonite
2632cp BS/SoB Exeggutor
2345cp ES/SoB Exeggutor
2265cp BS/SoB Exeggutor
1920cp ES/SoB Exeggutor
2326cp TS/TB Jolteon

This attempt failed timed out, but I was quite close. I thought about powering up a L20 Venusaur, but really wasn't feeling like spending the dust. Instead I evolved a L28 Exeggcute and got another ES/SoB Exeggutor. For the second team I also added another Jolteon and dropped the Dragonite.

Team 2:
2326cp TS/TB Jolteon
2275cp VS/TB Jolteon
2632cp BS/SoB Exeggutor
2345cp ES/SoB Exeggutor
2265cp BS/SoB Exeggutor
2197cp ES/SoB Exeggutor

To me, that looked like enough firepower, but it wasn't. Timed out again. I didn't want to power any of those Exeggutors up - not good enough IV's, but I vowed to not dodge at all - unless it would enable me to get another charge move in and I put back the Dragonite instead of the weakest Exeggutor.

Team 3:
2326cp TS/TB Jolteon
2275cp VS/TB Jolteon
3063cp DT/Hu Dragonite
2632cp BS/SoB Exeggutor
2345cp ES/SoB Exeggutor
2265cp BS/SoB Exeggutor

The phone rang in the middle of the battle, but I hung up and continued and JUST made it with 0-1 seconds left (and i was. I don't think I attempted a single dodge. Just attack spamming. The Dragonite did good work. Definitely an improvement over the L28 Exeggutor that was ditched. The sixth member never came into play though, so 5 strong counters should be enough.

But this team was JUST enough and might take more than one attempt to win. I'm not sure it would make it against an Aqua Tail or Hydro Pump Vaporeon.

Congratulations to your success.

Remark 1
Vaporeon is a good target, as its strength comes from its high stamina and for a raid boss, a fixed amount of stamina is added. So it is a relative week raid boss.

Remark 2
Not to dodge is crucial for maxing dps. When you dodge you do not attack. When you dodge, you get less damage and less energy due to lifeloss for your charged attacks.
As you have one Pokemon left, you could have eaten even more damage.

Great work!

but I vowed to not dodge at all - unless it would enable me to get another charge move in

This is the key, indeed. It is hard, and if you cannot do that way better as Bruno suggested, don;t doge at all; a useless dodge cost you a quick move usually, or at least 0.5 secs of no damage on the clock.

I hope your report get's more traction than mine :); Anyway, one more try:
succesfull Alakazam solo
succesfull Arcanien solo in first day of raids for me
Other solo scenarios:
- I've soloed a Machamp,
- soloed 1 AT Vape,
- failed on second AT Vape (forgot to restart the app),
- failed on a Flareon, but quite close, 5 seconds maybe (and 2 maxed Golems died right before charge moves, so smart dodge might be of help)

  • failed on a Jolteon by a mile

Cool. Could you post your Machamp team? I really want to take him down solo, but I don't think I have the team for it yet. I would have to rely a lot on Exeggutors.

Sure, the easiest one, no investment needed:
Espoen C/FS - lvl 30
Espeon Zh/Psy - lvl 30
Dragonite DT/Hu - lvl 34.5
Exegg C/SoB - lvl 32
Exegg C/Psychic - lvl 30 - I think fight just a bit
Exegg Zh/Psychic - lvl 30 - did not fight

All are above 84 IV.
I thin kMAchampo is the easiest, he has the lowest def stat among lvl 3 raid bosses,so takes a lot of damage quick from super effective high attack psychics.
Mine had Close combat and I think counter (not really sure).

I don't have anything close to that though.

I have a L30 Dragonite with DT/Hu. That's on the team.

I have a L30 Espeon with C/PB. Unfortuately not futuresight, but that's on the team.

Those are the only two solid members of the team.

I have a L20 Alakazam with C/FS, which I COULD power up, but his attack stat is only 11 and overall IV's not amazing. I also have a L29 Alakazam with PC/SB

I do have several Exeggutors with ES/SOB, but only L20 ones with ES/P, although I could power them up.

I guess if I powered up the two ES/P Exeggutors and the Alakazam, that should do it, but I'm not riding that high on dust.

Than maybe just do it with a team mate for now, to capture the boss.
And later on you can have the team just by evolving lvl 30 eggs or eevees since stardust is indeed scarce now.

Yeah I'm thinking about walking a poor IV L30 Eevee I have 10km and evolving into another Espeon. It's just annoying not being able to walk Machop right now - but if it means soloing Machamp is possible then it should be more than worth it!

Wow, that was amazing! At first I thought that soloing Vaporeon raids is the hardest in the tier 3.

Nope. Jolteon should be the hardest (impossible, infact) followed by Flareon.

I tried flaeron with fire spin and overheat. But timed out as he was on 35%. Only tried one time.

The overheat had let me dodge. Maybe this was my fault.

Setup:

Vape: 2864 33,5 AG/HP
Rydon: 2968 33,5 MS/EQ
Golem: 1645 20 RT/EQ
Vape: 2611 30 AG/WP
Vape: 2553 29 AG/AT
Gyra: 2976 33,5 AT/HP

Maybe I had used my D-Nite DT/DC? Or more Lvl 20 Rhydons or an Omastar? Or Should I power up some vapes?

Look after level 29/30 WG/HP-Starmie . This should be better than smaller vaporeon, golem and gyarados.

But i doubt, you can do 50% more damage, that you need.

no way. For soloing you need maxout mons. Try pokebattler, it ok now for raids
Flareon raids on pokebattler
And that is for 38.5 lvl mons

P.S. Inspite of marginally lower attack, Vapes are faster since the damage charge their HP faster...

too low level mons. I failed with lvl 38.5 ones vs Ember/Flame thrower. But the main problem is timeout, not Flareon damage.
35% is more than third of his health, so more than 60 seconds needed, that is huge. I hope the small golem was the last in your lineup.
